UNS – Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta conducted an inauguration ceremony as a formal welcome to 8,937 new students in front of Main Office dr. Prakosa, Monday (14/8/2017). The ceremony was officiated by UNS Rector Ravik Karsidi and attended by Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Puan Maharani; she would also give a general lecture as a part of New Student Orientation (PKKMB) 2017.
Puan set “The Importance of Mental Revolution to Students in Encountering Globalisation Era and Severe and Complex Future Challenges” as the theme to encourage the students to work with creativity for Indonesia.
“Competing in an era of globalisation will require a human resource that can maintain the nation’s great potential for the competitive environment,” said Menko PMK Puan.
She also mentioned three items on the strategic agenda for the development of Indonesia population’s great potentials: undertake basic needs coverage, enhance Indonesians’ capability, and build the nation’s character.
Furthermore, Puan enunciated that mutual cooperation is of great value for nation’s character building. The action of national revolution is a part of the strategic development agenda for the nation and character building.
“The implementation of change for the better of a university is reflected by the real work of the academicians in building a culture of anti-plagiarism, anti-drugs, working for the prosperity of the people, building a campus clean living culture, generating politeness, strengthening the spirit for Bhinneka Tunggal Ika (Unity in Diversity) and Pancasila, and carrying out Community Service on the them eof mental revolution,” she proclaimed.humas-red.uns/Dty/Eln
