UNS – The Dean of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, Dr. Mardiyana, encouraged students who will participate in Educational Intern in the next 7th semester to be a problem solver amid the Covid-19 pandemic which demands to learn the process to be conducted online.
In the briefing for Student Educational Internship 3 FKIP UNS held through Zoom, Wednesday morning (29/7/2020), Dr. Mardiyana stated that the Covid-19 pandemic should become an opportunity for students who join the Educational Intern to find a creative solution. The Integrated Education Practice Management Unit (Unit Pengelola Praktik Kependidikan Terpadu – UP2KT) has taken several steps to ensure that Educational Internship can be conducted normally under the current condition. The unit also prepared alternatives for the internship program offline internship program, online internship program, and blended learning internship program or the combination of online and offline learning method. However, based on the recommendation from Surakarta and UNS Task Force Acceleration of Covid-19 Handling, the internship program will be conducted online.
“Considering the situation of Covid-19 pandemic in Solo, Surakarta and UNS Task Force Acceleration of Covid-19 Handling did not allow the face to face activities and thus, the internship program will be conducted online,” Dr. Mardiyana stated.
He also reminded internship participant that due to the pandemic which disrupts the learning process, they will find many problems during their internship program. Therefore, he encourages students to work together and maintain active coordination with the Head of the Program, school principals in partner schools, supervisors, student interns, and students. After the opening remark from Dr. Mardiyana, FKIP UNS Vice-Dean for Academic Affairs, Prof. Slamet Subiyantoro, delivered material on the indicators of professional teachers, viz, good teaching skill, knowledgeable, professional attitude, learning equipment, master the technology, prepared dynamic curriculum, and becomes a good example. He also reminded students about the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) that will be conducted at the end of the internship program which aims to improve students critical thinking on the problems. The FGD will be followed by all internship participants in partner schools, tutors, and supervisors. A total of 1,980 students will participate in this internship program. Humas UNS
