UNS – The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) at Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held a Profession Release and Graduation Ceremony for students in the Pre-service Teacher Education Program (or PPG Prajabatan) and In-service for the year 2022. The release for the first wave of PPG students took place physically at the FKIP UNS Building F Auditorium on Wednesday (20/12/2023). A total of 666 graduates from 14 study programs attended this release.
In his report, the Head of the PPG Study Program at FKIP UNS, Dr. A.G. Tamrin, M.Pd., M.Si., mentioned that this release is the fourth of its kind for FKIP UNS. The first batch of PPG graduates in 2022 consists of 23 graduates in the field of Indonesian Language, 31 in English Language, 59 in Biology, 25 in Economics, 38 in Physics, 17 in Geography, 26 in Natural Sciences, 62 in Chemistry, 32 in Early Childhood Education (PG-PAUD), 151 in Elementary School Teacher Education (PGSD), 132 in Physical and Health Education (Penjaskes), 28 in Special Education (PLB), 25 in History, and 17 in Sociology.
Furthermore, PPG Prajabatan graduates have undergone a 1-year educational period with a load of 36 credits. Those who have successfully completed the Teacher Professional Education Competency Test (UKPPG) are entitled to the professional title of Teacher (Gr.).
These graduates have now participated in the selection for Civil Servant with Employment Agreement (PPPK) Teachers and are awaiting the final announcement. For graduates following the predetermined placement map, it is known that they will receive a one hundred percent affirmation. This means that the graduates will immediately be able to work as teachers according to the available placement map.
Dr. Tamrin, who is also the Chair of the Higher Education Forum Implementing PPG, added that in the future, anyone who wants to become a teacher needs to undergo PPG Prajabatan after completing their undergraduate studies. The teacher certification obtained after completing PPG Prajabatan is required to participate in the PPPK Teacher selection. PPPK teachers will fill the vacant teaching positions in schools. This dispels the notion that PPPK teachers will disrupt the presence of honorary teachers who have been working first.
UNS Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ir. Ahmad Yunus, M.S., stated that the release of UNS PPG graduates is a proud achievement. This is because graduates who have completed PPG will assist the government in fulfilling the need for teachers in schools across Indonesia.
“This will help the government’s program in fulfilling teachers’ positions that can be placed throughout Indonesia, especially to replace teachers who have retired,” Prof. Yunus said.
The teacher’s oath during the Profession Release and Graduation of PPG Prajabatan Students Batch 1 Year 2022, was led by the Dean of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) UNS, Prof. Dr. Mardiyana, M.Si. In addition, the graduates received a scientific oration session delivered by Prof. Dr. Sofyan Anif, M.Si., the Rector of Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS). On this occasion, he delivered a scientific oration in his capacity as the Chair of the Association of Private Education Institutions in Indonesia (ALPTKSI).
