UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta officially started the face-to-face (PTM) learning (PTM) on Monday (6/9/2021). Four faculties started their first PTM, Faculty of Law (FH), Faculty of Medical Science (FK), Faculty of Sport (FKOR), and Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB).
On the first day, PTM was opened directly by the Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, who taught the first semester students in FH UNS. Prof. Jamal taught Commercial Law Course for an hour with 12 students attending the course offline. Other students taking the course joined the learning process through the online platform.
Prof. Jamal stated that the start of PTM in UNS is in line with the permit granted by the Surakarta Major, Gibran Rakabuming Raka. “PTM is started according to the circular from the Major. That UNS is ready for limited PTM conditionally and gradually,” Prof. Jamal stated in an explanation before teaching.
Conditional means that students participating in the PTM must be vaccinated with at least the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine live in Surakarta and surrounding regions, have a permit from their parents, and do not have comorbidities. The gradual principle includes the limit put on the capacity of the classroom to 30% of its normal capacity.
“We start because the first semester is just entering. Then it will gradually hold for the fifth and seventh semesters. UNS could start with undergraduate thesis defense, dissertation, thesis, and other examinations. Then, if possible, we could increase from 30% to 40% and 50%. Everybody should apply health protocol,” Prof. Jamal explained.
For the 1st semester students who have not been vaccinated, the Rector also explained that UNS would conduct monitoring, and the Municipal Government of Surakarta would provide Covid-19 vaccine for them.
“For those who have not been vaccinated, they need to get vaccinated first. It can be from UNS, can be from the Municipal Government of Surakarta. Mas Gibran has asked us, but we had not counted because the first semester students were not registered as our students when we conducted mass vaccination,” the Rector added.
The PTM in UNS is in line with the Circular Letter (SE) Number 87/UN27/PK.01.03/2021 regarding Face-to-Face Learning for Undergraduate and Diploma Program Students Universitas Sebelas Maret issued on Thursday (2/9/2021) by the Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs UNS, Prof. Ahmad Yunus.
The PTM in UNS also has a permit and support from Gibran Rakabuming Raka. Even he met Prof. Jamal directly, twice in the Rectorate Building dr. Prakosa UNS on Friday (27/8/2021) and Thursday (2/9/2021). Humas UNS
