UNS – Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho SH, M. Hum, the Rector of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, was elected, by deliberation and consensus, as the Chairperson for the Council of Rector of Indonesia State University (CRISU), which took place on Friday night, January 17, 2020, in Hotel Atlit Century that located in Senayan, Jakarta. This occasion was attended by 56 out of the 87 Rectors of State Universities incorporated in CRISU.
The former Inspector General of the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education was elected by acclamation to supersede Prof. Dr. Kadarsah Suryadi, DEA (the Rector of ITB) for the term of office in 2020-2021. The election that was led directly by the Rector of ITB was followed by almost all the Rectors of State Universities in Indonesia and went smoothly and democratically.
Currently, there are 122 state universities in Indonesia with composition of 63 universities, 12 institutes, 4 academies, and 43 polytechnics; or alternatively 11 State Universities with Legal Entity (PTN BH), 34 State Universities as Public Service Agency (PTN BLU), and 77 universities as work unit (PTN Satker/PNBP). The CRISU as an organization for the leaders of the state universities to establish synergistic networks among the universities and other institutions, as well as establishing a higher education system that becomes integrationist for the nation. It has been established since April 16, 2002, which has been incorporated according to the notarial deed by Ir. Sari Wahyuni MSc, SH. MH. MKn., in accordance with the Decree of the Minister of Law and Human Rights, the Republic of Indonesia, on February 14th, 2014, No. AHU- 00359 AH 02.02. of 2014.
The leadership of CRISU has been changed several times since Prof. Joko Santoso (the Rector of ITB), Prof. Idrus Andi Paturusi (the Rector of Universitas Hasanudin), Prof. Herry Suhardiyanto (the Rector of IPB), and Prof. Kadarsyah Suryadi (the Rector of ITB).
With the election of Prof. Jamal Wiwoho as the Chairperson of CRISU, the Rectors are expected to implement the work program for 2020-2021 and immediately establish the complete administrator, conducting the SNMPTN-SBMPTN 2020, and Establish an Institution for Higher Education Admission Test (Lembaga Tes Masuk Perguruan Tinggi-LTMPT) under the CRISU. Additionally, they are expected to carry-out the CUPT-CRISU Indonesia Thailand Joint Summer Courses; 15th CUPT-CRISU Conference 2021 in Pattaya Thailand; Joint Working Group 2020 (France, Taiwan, and Japan); ASAHIL Conference in Warsaw, Russia 2020; and other programs proposed in CRISU 2020-2021 work meeting.
As is known, the CRISU is established by the Rectors of the State Universities in Indonesia, with the objectives of: establish synergic network among the state universities and other institution, develop the national education system to enhance the quality of human resource in Indonesia sustainably, formulate recommendations for the education administration in Indonesia, develop the admission selection for new student nationally, and establish a collaboration in order to maintain the unity and integrity of Indonesia.
