UNS – The Doctoral Program in Indonesian Language Education (S-3) at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta organized a training session on writing internationally reputable scholarly articles for doctoral students. The training featured two speakers, namely Prof. Dr. Imroatus Sholikhah, M.Pd. from UIN Raden Mas Said Surakarta, and Dr. Nur Arifah Drajati, M.Pd. from UNS.

The event was opened by the Head of the Doctoral Program in Indonesian Language Education at FKIP UNS, Prof. Dr. Andayani, M.Pd. Prof. Andayani stated that this activity was intended for doctoral students in Indonesian Language Education as part of their study completion efforts.

“The training on writing scholarly articles is intended to equip doctoral students with the necessary skills to complete their studies. Students are expected to gain as much knowledge as possible and produce scholarly articles to meet the graduation requirements,” Prof. Andayani explained during the event held on Saturday (3/2/2024).

Prof. Imroatus, as one of the speakers, delivered a presentation on the effective use of the English language in reputable scholarly articles.

“In the preparation of articles, language usage must pay attention to proper grammar, scientific language structure, and punctuation. Article writing should ensure a smooth flow of language,” Prof. Imroatus explained.

Prof. Imroatus added that several aspects need to be considered in the use of language in scholarly articles, including accuracy of information, engaging language style, utilization of resources, author credibility, proofreading, and adherence to writing ethics.

Dr. Nur Arifah, in her presentation, discussed bibliometric manuscripts. “Bibliometric studies focus on academic analysis based on previous publication data. This field of study has existed since the 1950s. It requires basic researcher skills such as critical thinking, navigation, assessment, summarizing, concluding, and analyzing,” Dr. Arifah explained.
