UNS — Gibran Rakabuming Raka, whose leadership reaching the first hundred days as the City Major of Surakarta, receives praise from the Political Psychology Observer in Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, Mohammad Abdul Hakim, Ph. D., for the beginning of the implementation of Gibran’s eight priorities program. Mohammad Abdul Hakim, Ph. D., considers that one of the priority programs that have a direct impact is the economic recovery through the Covid-19 vaccination acceleration. As a new regional head, Gibran pushes the vaccination rates in Surakarta.
“Gibran’s commitment to go directly to the field after the inauguration followed by the simultaneous vaccination in all villages in Surakarta City shows that he really thinks and believes the key to economic revival in Surakarta City lies in the success of vaccination,” said Mohammad Abdul Hakim, Ph. D., in the ‘Overview: 100 Days of Gibran Leading Solo’, on Friday evening (4/6/2021), which broadcasted through the Tribunnews.com Youtube Channel.
Abdul Hakim adds that the said City Major understood that if the public is still concerned with SARS-CoV-2 infection and is afraid to go out, such condition will harm the consumption level. If this happens, then the Surakarta economy will not be recovered immediately. “Here, we can see that his orientation is, indeed, economy recovery through vaccination,” said Mohammad Abdul Hakim, Ph. D.
Other than the economic recovery, Abdul Hakim also praises Gibran for his step in prioritizing the young generation. This effort was shown with the collaboration between the City Government with a marketplace, which recently established an MSME campus. He adds that an extensive concern toward the young generation is a unique effort, as he believes this attempt will bring young entrepreneurs so that they can boost the entrepreneurial sector in the city of Surakarta. He also highlights that Gibran’s position as a millennial City Major is strategic, especially with the launch of 5G services by the Minister of Communications and Informatics (Menkominfo) Johnny G. Plate in Surakarta last Wednesday (3/6/2021).
The establishment of 5G services in Surakarta will encourage the MSMEs to adopt digitalization and to build new business, both new goods and services and ease of transaction using technology. This service, according to Abdul Hakim, will bring great benefits for the younger generation. This, of course, can be an opportunity for Gibran to realize his dream to mobilize the potential of the young generation. “A super-fast internet connection has specifically targeted the youngster. I think this is a distinctive matter and interesting to be observed. Gibran’s trust toward the young generation can recover the current economic condition and restore the dignity of Solo as one of the centers of education and economy in Indonesia,” he concluded.
