UNS — Center for Fintech and Banking Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS Fintech Center) held summer course program 2021 “2nd UNS-HBKU Fintech Summer Course 2021” in collaboration with Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), Qatar. The program was held in six days from 23—28 August 2021 and was attended by more than 500 students from 167 universities in 23 countries, including Algeria, Argentina, Azerbaijan, Bahamas, Bangladesh, Cote d’Ivoire, France, Germany, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nigeria, Oman, Pakistan, Palestine, Philippines, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Timor Leste, Turkey, Uganda, and UK.

The 2nd UNS-HBKU Fintech Summer Course is an interactive learning program that provides an opportunity for students to meet with financial industry regulators, fintech professionals, industry professionals, and academics from Indonesia and abroad. Prof. Jamal Wiwoho as the Rector of UNS, stated that this summer course is Fintech Center and FEB UNS real participation in encouraging students to participate and study Fintech industry rapid and globalized development.

“I hope the 2nd UNS-HBKU Fintech Summer Course could benefit and contribute for all related parties. I deliver my thanks to all instructors from Indonesia and abroad, who agreed and provided their time to teach (in this program),” the Rector stated.

With HBKU Qatar, UNS Held 2nd UNS-HBKU Fintech Summer Course 2021

This year Fintech Summer Course offered 15 modules delivered by 15 instructors. The first day was opened with the Introduction to UNS and UNS Fintech Center from UNS Fintech Center followed by Digital Payment Module by Mr. Agung Purwoko from Bank Indonesia, Peer to Peer Lending Module by Mr. Sunu Widyatmoko as the representative from AFPI, and CEO Dompet Kilat. The first day was concluded with the Introduction to Digital FinanceModule by Prof. Ahmet Faruk Aysan from HBKU, Qatar.

On the second day, the students learned about Research in Fintech from Dr. Putra Pamungkas from UNS, Sustainability, and Fintech by Dr. Mustafa Disli (HBKU, Qatar), and The Metaverse of FinTech: where Indonesia is now, how the competition will play out and what’s next by Mr. Paul Schulte from Schulte Research.

The third day includes material from Ms. Clarissa Alvina Gunawan from Alpha JWC Ventures on Trends and Opportunities Career in Fintech Industry. She was followed by Dr. Sylviana Maya Damayanti from ITB on Fintech and Personal Financial Planning and Mr. Dharmadi Gusanto from Alpha JWC Ventures on Fintech Investment and Venture Capital.

The fourth day was started with the Introduction to Cryptocurrency and Blockchain Module by Prof. David Lee from Global Fintech Institute, Singapore. Followed by Cyber Security and Consumer Data Protection by Mr. Dickie Widjaja, CIO of Investree/ICIO Community, and Financial Technology and International Payment Module by Prof. Alistair Milne from Loughborough University, UK.

On the fifth day, students received two modules on Pandemic Covid-19 and Fintech from Prof. John Goodell from the University of Akron, USA, and Risk Management and Regulation in Fintech from Mr. Imansyah from OJK Institute and Digital Finance. On the last day, students learned about How Banks Adapt with Fintech: Digital Banking from Dr. Tastaftiyan Risfandy from UNS and completed the Final Evaluation. Humas UNS
