UNS – The Rector of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho lead the convocation for 1,181 students on Saturday (29/2/2020) in G.P.H. Haryo Mataram Auditorium UNS. From the 1,181 students graduated, 309 are postgraduate students, 40 are Specialist Medical Education Program graduates, 758 are undergraduate students graduates, 1 graduate from Diploma IV program, 42 graduates from Diploma III program, and 31 graduates from Diploma II program.
In his remarks, the Rector of UNS Prof. Jamal Wiwoho mentions that revolution in industry and technology becomes a transformation process that will be faced by the graduates directly. A new civilization has emerged and demands humans to change their mindsets. The graduation of students from university bring new nuance and add color to life, especially in the industrial world.
“Do not become a generation that looks cool, creative, innovative, and passionate, but easily give up and got hurt while dealing with difficulties, competition, and uncertainty,” said Prof. Jamal.
Prof. Jamal added that the current young generation has become a foothold for the society to establish a living in the community. An open-minded, innovative, and a mindset for transformation will certainly be something that must be pursued. Therefore, currently, the role of education becomes increasingly challenging.
“Indonesia nowadays needs a generation full of sincerity, not job seekers who dream of office through a partnership of power and office politics. Thus, the young generation should be prepared with their own skill. In addition, it is necessary to realize that one needs to make peace with the change and creating new ways to welcome a new, more inclusive era,” Prof. Jamal added.
On this occasion, the Vice Rector of Academic Affairs, Prof. Ahmad Yunus appreciates the achievement of several graduates in this period. One of them is the youngest graduate from Medical Program who is 27 years 1 month old. Moreover, a graduate named Idam Ragil achieved the highest GPA of 3.99. Lastly, there was one disabled graduate, Naura Savira, from the Information Technology Study Program who has successfully completed her study in 3 years and 10 months. Humas UNS/Ratri
