UNS Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta hosted a socialization event on the 2025 New Student Admission Selection for Diploma and Undergraduate Programs on Tuesday (4/2/2025). The event took place at the G.P.H. Haryo Mataram Auditorium and welcomed 650 school principals and Guidance and Counseling (BK) teachers from high schools (SMA), vocational schools (SMK), and Islamic high schools (MA) across the Solo Raya region. Additionally, it was streamed live via YouTube and Zoom Cloud Meeting to reach a wider audience.

Key Speakers and Discussion Points

Several key figures shared insights during the event, including:

  • Bekti Cahyo Hidayanto, S.Si., M.Kom., Executive Secretary of the National Selection for New Student Admission (SNPMB).
  • Prof. Dr. Hartono, dr., M.Si., Rector of UNS.
  • Prof. Drs. Sutarno, M.Sc., Ph.D., Head of the UNS New Student Admission Selection Office (SPMB).
  • Ir. Widiyanto, S.P., M.Si., Ph.D., Head of the Vocational and Undergraduate Program Division at UNS SPMB, moderated the discussion.

UNS Rector: Choosing the Right Study Program Matters

In his remarks, Prof. Hartono emphasized UNS’s commitment to becoming a World-Class University and encouraged the nation’s top students to apply. He also highlighted recent admission policy changes under Ministerial Regulation (Permendikbudristek) Number 62 of 2023.

“These changes are crucial for school principals and BK teachers to understand so they can guide students in selecting their study programs wisely,” Prof. Hartono stated.

He also clarified important admission restrictions. Students accepted through SNBP cannot register for SNBT or Independent Selection at Public Universities (PTN). In addition, those admitted via SNBT and who have completed registration are also ineligible for the Independent Selection.

UNS Continues to Improve Education Quality

Prof. Sutarno reaffirmed UNS’s status as a Legal Entity State University (PTNBH). He also highlighted that UNS holds an “Excellent” accreditation from the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT). UNS continues to innovate to enhance the quality of education.

“UNS consists of 14 faculties, one vocational school, and one postgraduate school, offering nationally and internationally accredited programs,” he said. He also highlighted UNS’s global recognition, including its rankings in THE World University Rankings, QS World University Rankings, and other international listings.

The Crucial Role of Schools in SNPMB 2025

Meanwhile, Bekti Cahyo Hidayanto stressed the important role of schools in the 2025 SNPMB process. Once schools complete the School and Student Database (PDSS) registration, students will enter the selection phase under their school’s supervision. He also outlined UNS’s admission quotas:

  • At least 20% of seats for SNBP.
  • At least 30% for SNBT.
  • Up to 50% for the Independent Selection.

Key SNBP 2025 Registration Deadlines

Bekti also reminded participants of the important SNBP 2025 dates:

  • SNPMB Student Account Registration: Until February 18, 2025.
  • SNBP Registration Period: February 4–18, 2025.
  • SNBP Results Announcement: March 18, 2025.

He encouraged students to prepare carefully and select study programs that align with their academic strengths and interests.

UNS’s Commitment to Future Students

Through this initiative, school principals and BK teachers are expected to provide students with accurate, up-to-date admission information. This will help them make well-informed decisions about their university choices. UNS remains dedicated to delivering high-quality education and producing globally competitive graduates.
