UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held a heartfelt Mangayubagyo ceremony. The event honored and sent off 18 lecturers and staff who will join the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage. It took place on Monday (5/5/2025) in Meeting Room IV of the dr. Prakosa Building at UNS. This traditional ceremony reflects collective prayers and support for those fulfilling the fifth pillar of Islam.
UNS Academic Members to Perform Hajj
In his report, the UNS Vice-Rector for Human Resources, Prof. E. Muhtar, S.Pd., M.Si., CFrA., announced that 18 individuals will join the pilgrimage. The group includes 16 lecturers and two staff from various faculties and units across the university. Among them is the Rector of UNS, Prof. Dr. Hartono, dr., M.Si.
“This year’s UNS Hajj pilgrims include one staff member from the UNS Central Office. Four lecturers are from the Faculty of Medicine (FK). Three lecturers are from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), and four from the Faculty of Agriculture (FP), including one staff member,” Prof. Muhtar explained. “The remaining participants include one lecturer from the Faculty of Cultural Studies (FIB), Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), and Faculty of Engineering (FT). Another lecturer is from the Faculty of Law (FH), Vocational School (SV), and one staff member from UNS Hospital.”



Heartfelt Messages and Spiritual Support
Rector Prof. Hartono, who is also among the pilgrims, expressed his sincere prayers and support for his fellow travelers. He encouraged everyone to embrace the pilgrimage as a moment of spiritual growth and unity. “Let us use this moment to strengthen our bonds and solidarity within the campus community,” he said. “May this pilgrimage mark the beginning of a more sincere, humble, and spirited commitment to service.”
Meanwhile, Prof. Nuryani, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D., delivered a message on behalf of the group. She thanked the university leadership for granting permission to perform the pilgrimage and asked for prayers from the academic community. “We sincerely ask for your prayers so that we may carry out every part of the Hajj ritual smoothly and completely,” she said. “May we grant ourselves health, strength, and ease throughout the journey. We also pray that UNS continues to receive divine blessings.”
A Ceremony of Unity and Faith
The event concluded with a religious sermon (tausiyah) and prayer led by Prof. Dr. Joko Nurkamto, M.Pd. The Mangayubagyo ceremony was filled with warmth and reverence.
