UNS – After the contingent of INKAI Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta brought home four golds, two silvers, and four bronzes from the National Competition of Dean Cup VI Unsoed 2020, now it is the Contingent of UNS Pencak Silat’s turn to show their achievements.
The achievement that the contingent brought home is achieved from Universitas Pembangunan Nasional (UPN) Veteran X 2020 Presidential Cup, held in UPN Veteran Yogyakarta on 10-16 February 2020.
UNS contingent brought home nine medals from the competition joined by various universities such as Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY), Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) Yogyakarta, Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ), and Universitas Negeri Semarang (Unnes).
“Alhamdulillah, the Pencak Silat team of UNS gained achievements in the National Competition in UPN Veteran Yogyakarta. The medals won by the team are one gold, one silver, and seven bronzes,” stated silver medalist, UNS fighter, Kana Tania Wijaya contacted by uns.ac.id, Friday (14/2/2020).
The gold medal is won by Mahib Satria from the men’s J class. As for the bronzes were won from various classes, both from single and team class.
In the single class, the bronze medalists are Alfiah Mukarromah in women’s A class, Bagus Saiful Amin in men’s F class, Wisnu Bayu Murti in men’s E class, Novita Rifki Mahanani in women’s B class, and Zidni Rahma Maly in women’s single. The bronze medals from the team class are won by Ardan Syaifudin, Bayu Triono, M. Abdul Rozzak in the men’s sector and Avona Rara, Lintang Rikke, and Mutiara in the women’s sector.
On the preparation, Kana Tania stated that UNS fighters were selected from November 2019 and continued with athletes’ preparation since December 2019.
“There was a selection for the team at the end of November. After the team was formed, there was a general preparation from December until early January. Then there was general preparation from 11 January until H-1 match,” Kana Tania added.
With these achievements, Kana Tania expects that the UPN Veteran X Presidential Cup can be a reference for the preparation of UNS fighters in other championships.
