UNS – Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta Hospital received support from Alumni Association (IKA) UNS and Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) UNS (red: a women organization whose members are the wife of Indonesian civil servant). The occasion was marked with the transfer of 2 ventilators and several COVID-19 standard Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) from the General Secretary of IKA UNS, Bambang Dwi Wahyudi, to the Rector of UNS, Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho, which was then handed over to UNS Hospital Director, Prof. Hartono. Several PPEs were also handed down from the Chief of DWP UNS, Budhi Jamal Wiwoho, S.E., to tUNS Hospital Director, Prof. Hartono.
In the ceremony which took place in the 3rd-floor Auditorium of UNS Hospital Main Building, Monday (6/4/2020), Prof. Hartono conveyed that UNS Hospital with the full support from UNS has been appointed as Examination Laboratory for COVID-19.
“Upon granted this trust, UNS Hospital targeted that the operational preparation for the laboratory will be done this Sunday and (it) can operate as soon as possible,” Prof. Hartono stated.
Prof. Hartono added that Human Resource preparation is almost complete. Besides the implementation team who has an internship at the Center for Environmental Health Engineering and Disease Control Yogyakarta, UNS Hospital also recruited 10 new doctors to join the training of swab test under the guidance from UNS Hospital ORL-H&N specialists, 9 health analyst, and researchers from the Faculty of Medical Science (FK) UNS so that UNS Hospital Laboratory capacity will be sufficient, at least for Surakarta Residency.
Prof. Hartono’s statement is supported by the Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho who expressed his gratitude for IKA UNS care to UNS Hospital. The medical support provided by IKA UNS worth around Rp 600 million. In the occasion, Prof. Jamal also expressed that relief in the form of phone credit from IKA UNS has been delivered to 6,000 UNS students affected by COVID-19 which is equal to Rp 300 million. IKA UNS is ready to support UNS Hospital to face COVID-19 pandemic.
Besides that, Prof. Jamal also conveyed his appreciation to DWP UNS, because DWP UNS is the first element in UNS which launch an awareness movement to fight COVID-19. Until Monday (6/4/2020) has collected Rp 56 million funds and inspired UNS Leaders to open UNS Care for COVID-19 account which has collected Rp 176 million funds per Monday.
