UNS – Commemorating the Kartini Day, the Dharma Wanita Persatuan (an organization whose members are Civil Servants’ wives-DWP), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, held a social service at the Rector’s Home Office, Tuesday (21/4/2020). This social service is addressed to the COVID-19 affected community in the surrounding UNS environment.
The Head of DWP UNS, Budhi Widjayanti Jamal Wiwoho, S.E, mentioned that the social service that was held in conjunction with the Kartini Day commemoration, is their second social service. The first one was held several days prior to, at the UNS Hospital by delivering Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in the form of masks and consumption assistance for health workers who carry out their duties in preventing COVID-19.
“This is a form of our concern and as a form of empathy from the DWP UNS during this ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Hopefully, this assistance can lighten the burden and will be beneficial for the community in the surrounding campus area. In this second social service, DWP UNS delivers 200 basic food packages, which in each package consist of 5 kg of rice, 8 packages of instant noodles, bihunku, 3 pieces of cloth mask, and a small bag,” explains Budhi.
Meanwhile, the Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, express his gratitude to the DWP UNS members who had become the donors, thus supporting the social service program. “We, the leaders of UNS support and appreciate the activity held by DWP UNS. Hopefully, this social service organized by the DWP UNS can help and lighten the burden of our comrades who are affected by COVID-19,” said Prof. Jamal.
Furthermore, the mechanism for taking the service package in UNS Rector’s Home Office is different from the previous year. Due to the ongoing condition, where the huge crowd should be avoided, the packages are distributed and received by the representative from each community unit, among others: 45 packages for the RW 17 Kentingan, 40 packages for the Sekolah Luar Biasa Tuna Netra YKAB (Extraordinary Special School for Blind), FKIP UNS Pabelan campus 10 packages, 20 packages for the crew of UNS household section, 10 packages for merchants in the surrounding Rector’s Home Office, 30 packages for FKOR, and 25 packages for UNS Mesen campus.
