UNS – The Faculty of Medical Science (FK) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta inaugurated and took the oath of 79 new physicians in FK UNS Hall, Wednesday (22/4/2020). The inauguration and physician’s oath-taking ceremony for the 212th FK UNS was attended by the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs UNS, Prof. Ahmad Yunus, Director of Dr. Moewardi Regional Public Hospital (as Primary Education Hospital), Dr. Cahyono, and the Dean of FK UNS, Prof. Reviono along with the ranks.
The Vice Dean for Academic Affairs FK UNS, Paramasari Dirgahayu, dr., Ph.D. in her report stated that the inauguration and physician’s oath-taking ceremony was conducted via online due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Therefore, (the ceremony) was conducted using a hybrid system, ceremonial and online, in which 4 people joined the ceremonial in FK UNS and the others (attended) online from their hometown,” explained Paramasari.
Paramasari reported that there is 79 new physician that attended the ceremony. They all passed the Doctor Profession Program Student Competency Test (Uji Kompetensi Mahasiswa Program Profesi Dokter – UKMPPD) for the 15 and 23 February 2020 period for each OSCE and CBT examination. From the result of UKMPPD, 22 male students and 57 female students passed the examination and participated in this graduation, inauguration, and physician’s oath-taking ceremony. From the 79 new physicians, one of them is an affirmation student from Papua named Lisye Elsina Kareni.
“The average Grade Point Average (GPA) of the current doctor graduates is 3.54. The highest GPA in this inauguration and Physician Oath Taking is achieved by dr. Fauzia Novia Isnaening Tyas with GPA 3.80,” she added.
With the 212th doctor inauguration, thus, since its establishment, FK UNS has graduated 6,280 physicians, who have spread all over the country and have dedicated their knowledge in various agencies in the field of health care, education, research, and as physicians at the government, private, military/police, and other agencies.
Meanwhile, in his remarks, the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs UNS, Prof. Ahmad Yunus stated that this is the time for the graduates from FK UNS to put away the toga and all of its attributes. Prof. Yunus urged the graduates to go out of the campus and show their existence as a physician, approach the community who are exposed COVID-19, waiting for the appropriate and immediate help and medical treatment.
“Show and prove that UNS physicians equipped with the knowledge and oath, with courage, to realize the integrity and high social awareness provide help to solve the COVID-19 pandemic. I am waiting for good news and success stories from the graduates in facing this abnormal situation,” Prof. Yunus stated.
Prof. Yunus wishes that the community can act maturely, disciplined and follow physical distancing, wearing a mask, practice a healthy life, and stay at home. “I congratulate and (wish for) your success for the academic achievement so that (you can) successfully achieve the title of physician,” he concluded.
