IKA FH UNS Distributes Donation for the COVID-19 Affected Communities

UNS – To ease the impact of the COVID-19, the Alumni Association (Ikatan Keluarga Alumni – IKA) Faculty of Law (FH) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta donated food packages and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The donation was symbolically handed over by the IKA FH UNS Daily Chairperson, Dr. Sugeng Riyanta to the Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, Friday (1/5/2020). The target of this donation is the labor who are laid off and experienced Termination of Work (PHK) in Klaten, online motorcycle taxi drivers, and students who cannot go back home.

Dr. Sugeng Wiranta explained that this donation comes from IKA FH UNS members.

“The assistance we distributed to the COVID-19 affected communities was a donation from a member of IKA FH UNS coordinated by Prof. Zudan Arif Fakhrulloh. This donation, we distribute in the form of food packages for the affected communities and PPE for medical personnel”, he explained.

The pandemic brings wide impacts, especially in the economic sector. Many laborers lost their job due to limitations or prohibition to leave home which makes various economies to be sluggish. In total, the distributed donation is Rp. 55 million including 900 packets of rice which have been distributed on Friday (1/5/2020) which coincides with International Labor Day.

Dr. Sugeng Riyanta added that his party will continue taking a role in lessening the impacts of COVID-19 pandemic. “After this stage, we prepare 1.5 tons of rice continuously until the COVID-19 pandemic over. Not the value that becomes a parameter of this effort, but our willingness to share and work together in reducing the burden of the communities affected by COVID-19,” concluded Dr. Sugeng.
