UNS – Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI) Surakarta Branch distributes 200 packages of basic food for the community in Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, who are affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The distribution was delivered by BNI Surakarta Branch Office through the Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) UNS on Wednesday (6/5/2020) at Gedung dr. Prakosa UNS.
The Head of BNI Surakarta Branch Office, Agus Triyono, said that BNI takes initiative to hold a Program ‘BNI Berbagi (BNI Sharing)’ to help the less fortunate community and affected by COVID-19 pandemic. BNI Berbagi is held simultaneously during Ramadan all across Indonesia under the Ramadan spirit for Indonesia. Its main activity is the distribution of food packages, takjil (iftar food) sharing, and orphanage aids.
For the food package sharing, BNI prepares 125,000 packages of basic food to get distributed to 255 locations scattered around the-said corporation’s 17 operational regions across Indonesia. Those packages are given for daily workers who faced a decrease in revenue due to COVID-19.
“On this occasion, we distribute 200 basic food packages for the UNS community affected by COVID-19 through the DWP UNS administrator. In each distribution for the package, BNI implements physical distancing protocol, by setting the distance from one recipient to another recipient, thus preventing the COVID-19 spread,” explains Agus Triyono during the sidelines of the activity.
Meanwhile, the Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, conveys his gratitude to BNI that delivers 200 food packages for the UNS community affected by COVID-19 through DWP UNS. “Hopefully, these food packages from BNI can bring happiness for the campus community affected by COVID-19. This package will, later, distributed to the cleaning staff in the campus area,” said Prof. Jamal. Humas UNS
