The Director-General of Science and Technology Resources Dikti Reviews FKOR UNS Fitness Center

UNS – The Fitness Center of Faculty of Sport (FKOR) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta welcomed a special visit from the Directorate General of Science and Technology Resources for Higher Education (Dikti) Ministry of Research Technology/National Institute of Research and Innovation (BRIN) Prof. Ali Ghufron Mukti, on Friday (29/5/2020) evening.

The heavy rain that greeted the team does not reduce the spirit and enthusiasm of Prof. Ali Ghufron to review the facility and situation in FKOR UNS Fitness Center. On the occasion, Prof. Ali Ghufron was accompanied by the Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho and the Dean of FKOR UNS, Dr. Sapta Kunta.

“Fitness Center FKOR is used by students to support the learning process and improve the achievement of UNS athletes. Besides, the Fitness Center in FKOR UNS is also used for National Paralympic Committee (NPC) Indonesia training, national athletes who have Training Center (TC) in Solo such as volleyball, silat, bicycle, and other sports, including athletes from Solo itself,” Prof. Jamal stated when introducing the FKOR UNS Fitness Center to Prof. Ali Ghufron.

A welcome greeting for Prof. Ali Ghufron was also delivered by Dr. Sapta Kunta. He stated that even though FKOR can be considered young for a faculty, but the faculty has contributed to glorious achievement in the field of sport, both at the national and international levels.

Dr. Sapta Kunta also explained to Prof. Ali Ghufron that during the Covid-19 pandemic, the Fitness Center is closed and does not provide services according to the government’s order to break the Covid-19 chain of transmission. FKOR Fitness Center will be reopened after the pandemic is over and certainly keep obeying the government’s regulation.

Further, Dr. Sapta Kunta added that the Fitness Center is ready to provide services for the community who want to utilize the sports facilities in his faculty.

“FKOR Fitness Center has an international standard. Even if compared to (other) Fitness Center in Central Java, the Fitness Center owned by FKOR has the best and complete equipment,” Dr. Sapta Kunta added.

Dr. Sapta Kunta expected that the Fitness Center owned by FKOR UNS can be a pilot project at the national level because the training of Paralympic athletes is centered in Solo, especially in UNS.

“Our hope is that (this: Fitness Center) can become a pilot project at the national level because the Paralympic athletes training is centered in Solo. We also hope that the government can trust and provide assistance by creating a sports science center,” Dr. Sapta Kunta continued.

He does not decline that the Fitness Center owned by FKOR UNS can open an opportunity for cross-scientific and cross-departmental collaboration, for example, a collaboration with the Faculty of Medical Science (FK), Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science (FMIPA), and Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB).
