UNS – The Faculty of Sport (FKOR) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta start the initial selection stage for Prospective Students (Casis) for the Special Sport Class (Kelas Khusus Olahraga – KKO) of SMA Negeri (SMAN) 4 Surakarta, Wednesday (10/6/2020) morning.
As the consultant of KKO Surakarta, the Dean of FKOR UNS, Dr. Sapta Kunta, mentions that his party will conduct selection on dozen of Casis KKO SMAN 4 Surakarta. On this occasion, Casis KKO SMAN 4 Surakarta must face anthropometric tests and ability tests in the presence of examiners consisting of lecturers and students FKOR UNS.
“This morning the anthropometry assessment consist of height, weight, sitting height, arm span, physical test, coordination test, arm power test, leg power test, speed test, agility, and finally aerobic endurance. There are 10 criteria that will be included in the software we establish,” explain Dr. Sapta Kunta.
To uns.ac.id, Dr. Sapta Kunta mentions that FKOR UNS will implement Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) health prevention protocol in accordance with government recommendations. Among others are by dividing the Casis KKO SMAN 4 Surakarta into 2 fleets, with the number of each fleet filled by at least 15 Casis and the application of physical distancing between Casis during the selection process.
The KKO SMAN 4 Surakarta Casis Selection is a form of an official collaboration between FKOR UNS with SMAN 4 Surakarta in implementing coaching for young athletes, especially in Surakarta, to be able to carve achievements for the world of national sports.
“Basically, this is a matter of mutually beneficial cooperation for FKOR. SMAN 4 is part of the FKOR laboratory because the concepts and theories in FKOR can be implemented in this KKO. In terms of gender and the Branch of Sports, this can be a rich research topic, while the evidence from the researches can be profitable,” Dr. Sapta Kunta added.
Several branches of sport aimed to be opened in KKO SMAN 4 this period are taekwondo, Pencak silat, karate, athletics, swimming, field tennis, table tennis, archery, volleyball, soccer, fencing, and judo. Through the 13 branches, Dr. Sapta Kunta hopes that Casis KKO SMAN 4 can exceed the minimum competency standard applied in this selection.
On the other hand, the Vice Principal of the Student Affairs SMAN 4 Surakarta, Nanang Inwanto, mentioned that his parties openly willing to cooperate with various parties, one of them is FKOR UNS that has competence in the field of sports.
“When we opened KKO we need to open collaboration with many parties such as Department of Youth and Sports Education (Dikpora) as an extension of the Surakarta City Government, and then FKOR UNS that has been frank and honest during the registration process until the training process, we specifically from the school must collaborate with those who have competence in the field of sports,” said Nanang.
Later, students who passed the selection to be accepted at KKO SMAN 4 Surakarta will be included in the Study Group with a total of 36 students. When asked regarding future expectations from the implementation of cooperation between FKOR UNS and Surakarta 4 Public High Schools, Nanang hopes that the guidance from FKOR UNS can produce outstanding athletes and assist SMAN 4 Surakarta to modify the curriculum to be integrated with the sport.
“The next collaboration with FKOR related to how our students can reach the achievements related to their future. As for training, a collaboration with FKOR UNS is needed.
