UNS – The implementation of Free Emission Day in Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta will be started in July 2020. The inauguration of the Free Emission Day was conducted on Friday (3/7/2020) by the Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho. The event begins by cycling together from the UNS Rector’s official residence and ended in the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP). This event was carried out by adhering to the applicable health protocol.
The Free Emission Day in UNS is implemented as a step following the UNS Rector Decree Number 827A/UN27/2013 on September 20th, 2013 regarding UNS Green Campus Management Guidelines and UNS Rector Instruction Number 6 of 2016 dated June 2nd, 2016 regarding Environmentally Friendly Transportation in UNS Campus.
This agenda will be carried out routinely on the First Friday every month. The provision on the implementation of this agenda was regulated on Rector’s Circular Number 44/UN27/SE/2020. On the occasion, the Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal explains that this plan began with the commemoration of Environment Day last month. The initial event was considered as a positive activity and based on discussions that have been conducted by the leadership of the university, faculty and the Director of Vocational School (SV), agreed to make the program of One day without emissions activity to be carried out on the first Friday of every month.
“Of course this is a matter that must be prepared, especially the parking area. Recently it has not become a problem, but after the learning activity back to active, we try to increase the frequency of transportation that can be used,” Prof. Jamal reveals to the uns.ac.id team.
Later, all UNS academic members who bring non-emission free personal vehicles on the first Friday on a month must park their vehicle at the provided section since starting at 06.00 to 17.30 WIB no vehicles are allowed to enter UNS, unless the designed transportation means. Especially for UNS academicians who will carry out service providers work on that day, they are allowed to use transportation vehicle after obtaining permission from UNS. In line with this, in the future, if there is any other event that coincides with the implementation of one day without emission program, and it has obtained approval from the university leaders, the program (one day without emission) can be omitted. However, under an emergency condition, the provision for the program is not applicable. This activity will be reviewed periodically by considering the development of the situation and condition.
