UNS – The Rector of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, provides input to the House of Representative of the Republic of Indonesia (DPR RI) regarding the drafting of Development on the Pancasila Ideology Bill (RUU PIP). The input is delivered in order for the PIP Bill will be able to protect Pancasila from Communism, Leninism, Liberalism, and Khilafah.
In the webinar ‘the Urgency of Arrangement for the Development of the Pancasila Ideology (PIP) in the Law’ organized by the Institute for Consultation and Legal Aid (LKBH) the Faculty of Law (FH) UNS through Zoom Meeting and YouTube live streaming on Friday (3/7/2020) afternoon, Prof. Jamal delivers five inputs.
First RUU PIP must be addressed for the formation of the national identity and character, the attitude of patriotism towards the homeland, and the creation of respectful attitude, tolerance, and harmony in the national and state living.
Second, the realization of the national education system, science, and technology, the development of national research and innovation as the basis for the preparation of the implementation of national development in all fields.
Third, the realization of the preparation of the implementation of national development in all fields including the central and regional governments based on Pancasila values.
Fourth, the realization of a free and active political system, democracy, national law, and foreign policy based on the values of the Pancasila.
Lastly, the fifth is the realization of the country’s goal to create a just and prosperous society based on the belief in the one and only God, Just and Civilized Humanity, the Unity of Indonesia, Democracy led by wisdom in consultation/representation, and social justice for all Indonesian.
The inputs were delivered by Prof. Jamal due to the high participation of the society in criticizing RUU HIP that previously faces strong opposition from a number of community groups.
“The reality that during the last few weeks there are public debates in addressing the RUU HIP draft. This shows that there is public participation in the regulation preparation,” explains Prof. Jamal.
The community participation and control regarding the RUU HIP drafting, which currently under discussion in the DPR, is also appreciated by Prof. Jamal. Firmly, Prof. Jamal requests that the DPR accommodate the aspirations conveyed by the public. On the occasion, Prof. Jamal who also serves as the Chairman of the Council of Rector of Indonesian State University (CRISU), hopes that RUU PIP not only regulates the interpretation of the basic values of the Pancasila philosophy but also must restore and lay the values of the Pancasila in the 1945 Constitution.
Regarding the Pancasila Ideology Development Board (BPIP), Prof. Jamal hopes that RUU PIP can improve the image of the institutions established by President Joko Widodo last February 28, 2018. “The regulation of PIP in Regulation should contain the norms of institutional arrangements in BPIP to be more authoritative and effective. PIP Regulation must also ensure that understanding, appreciation, and practice of Pancasila are not abused,” he concluded. Humas UNS
