UNS — Two students of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta obtained another achievement in National Sociology Essay Competition Universitas Sriwijaya (Unsri) or abbreviated as LENSU 2020. In the competition held by the Student Association of Sociology Program (Himasos) UNSRI and Sociology Program of FISIP UNSRI, UNS students won the first place by defeating the other 329 participants.
These two UNS students are Fatma Juliana Kartikasari from Food Technology Program and Irfina Widya Istiqomah from Agricultural Extension and Communication Program (PKP) Faculty of Agriculture (FP) UNS. Under the supervision from Gani Cahyo Handoyo S.P., M.Si., as a Faculty Member of Agrotechnology Program, these students were successful in conducting a study on “Go-Zero (Go Zoo Hero): Pioneer in Revitalization Zoo Tourism Revitalization on Android Mobile in the New Normal”.
The competition was held online. Fatma and Irfina went through several stages of the competition to win the first position. The first stage is registration and submission of the article was conducted on 20 July 2020 until 14 September 2020. The selection process was conducted from 15 September 2020 until 26 September 2020. The competition has no presentation round so that the papers only went through paper selection. The winners were announced on Sunday (27/9/2020) through @sosiologifisipunsri Instagram account.
Fatma stated that in this competition, they tried to find a productive activity to fill their free time during the pandemic. “The challenges are we need to do this together with our university assignments so that we need to manage our time,” Fatma said in an interview with uns.ac.id team, Friday (16/10/2020). The Go-Zero, started from Fatma and Irfina concern on Zoo during the Covid-19 pandemic which experiences a significant decline in the number of visitors.
