UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta establish a collaboration with PT. Mobil Anak Bangsa (MAB) on Thursday (26/11/2020). This partnership was marked with the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between both parties. The Vice-Rector for Partnership and Planning Affairs UNS, Prof. Sajidan accompanied by UNS Researcher, Prof. Muhammad Nizam represented the university in the ceremony, while PT. President Director MAB, Leonard represented PT. MAB. The ceremony was witnessed by Menristek/BRIN, Prof. Bambang Brodjonegoro and Founder of MAB, Jenderal Purn. Moeldoko.
UNS Researcher, Prof. Muhammad Nizam stated that PT. MAB is one of the companies that work in the national electric vehicle industry through its subsidiary, PT. Karoseri Anak Bangsa. The subsidiary produced an electric bus, which now is ready to be commercialized. “It is a pride for UNS to become one of the universities in Indonesia to have a collaboration with PT. MAB,” Prof. Nizam explained.
According to Prof. Nizam, this collaboration is a very strategic means to apply research to solve industrial problems. “This collaboration aims to encourage technology downstream, which needs a research collaboration between the industry and researcher to develop a national electric vehicle through the signing of MoU between industry and researcher. In this case, UNS and PT. MAB,” he added.
To this day, the components in electric car production are mostly imported. Prof. Nizam hopes that this collaboration can create a component to be used in electric vehicles and reduce dependence on imports. PT. MAB also establish a partnership with other universities and research institutes. “Not only with UNS but also with UI, ITB, ITS, UGM, and LIPI,” he stated. Humas UNS
