UNS — As a director, Hijrianda Niko Larizki, a student from Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta succeeded in winning third place in a national short movie competition entitled ‘Information Technology Competition’ last November 2020. In the competition organized by Student Association in Elementary School Teacher Study Program (PGSD), Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS), Hijrianda collaborates with Rosyid Arif from Physical Health and Recreation Education Study Program (Penjaskes) FKIP as the main single actor.
In a conversation with the uns.ac.id on Tuesday (29/12/2020), Hijrianda mentions that through his movie he wants to deliver a message regarding the importance of youth’s role. Especially during the Covid-19 pandemics. A movie entitled ‘Burning Determination Eliminates Withering Spirit’ depicts a young man who loves exercise and has a strong social spirit. However, due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, he was greatly burdened and facing difficulties in expressing his interest. Finally, the young man finds a solution to deliver and share positive action virtually according to his interest.
“It is customary for youth to be an agent of change during this pandemic. Through this competition, I want to craft arts, while turning current problems into a positive solution,” express the student of Indonesia Language and Literature Study Program FIB UNS.
When asked about specific points he brought up when directing the movie, Hijrianda reveals that he tries to deliver four different elements. Each element will explain a certain situation with a specific meaning namely cold, dark, hot, and bright.
“This (element), then is strengthened with various shooting techniques according to the situation,” he added.
In the future, Hijrianda wants to improve and develop his skill in movie production and directing. One of the methods is by processing material from more skilled people as a reference. “The most important is to have proper behavior and ethics of manners in crafting. Because an artist’s personality and sincere intention in crafting is shown from their attitude and ethics,” he concluded. Humas UNS
