UNS — The Rector of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho together with the Regent of Karanganyar, Juliyatmono and Ustaz Yusuf Mansur performed tree planting ceremony in Special Utilization Forest Area (Kawasan Hutan Dengan Tujuan Khusus – KHDTK) Gunung Bromo UNS, Saturday morning (6/3/2021).
The trees planted on this occasion were 200 eucalyptus trees from Perhutani, 1,000 fruit trees (soursop, avocado, lime, guava, coffee, rain tree (Samanea saman), Albizzia (Albizia chinensis), and golden trumpet tree (Tabebuia chrysotricha)) from BPDASHL Surakarta, and 1,000 gingers and 50 caimito (Chrysophyllum caimito) trees from Ustaz Yusuf Mansur. The Technical Implementing Unit (UPT) of the Center for Forestry Education and Training (Pusdiklathut) and Democracy and National Resilience Study Center (Pusdemtanas) Institute for Research and Community Services (LPPM) UNS also planted 100 Agarwood trees and 70 Sandalwood trees in KHDTK Gunung Bromo.
The tree-planting ceremony was a part of UNS 45th Anniversary as an implementation of the UNS Kampus Merdeka and Merdeka Belajar program for the community.
“Insyaallah, we will utilize KHDTK with activities that support government programs, especially from the Ministry of Education and Culture and other ministries,” Prof. Jamal mentioned in his remark.
In front of Juliyatmono and Ustaz Yusuf Mansur, the Rector stated that UNS would involve various faculties to utilize and develop KHDTK Gunung Bromo UNS. He also shared the area’s plans, including utilizing KHDTK Gunung Bromo UNS as a tourism, education, and event site with an open natural scenery concept. The use of 126 hectares area will be optimized without leaving UNS nature as an educational institution.
Concluding his remark, the Rector also delivered his gratitude for Juliyatmono and Ustaz Yusuf Mansur, who has provided special attention for KHDTK Gunung Bromo UNS sustainability.
“Thank you to Ustaz Yusuf Mansur, who has come far from Jakarta. Because of (his) concerns for UNS (red: Ustaz Yusuf Mansur) comes to Solo. Thank you to the Karanganyar Regent, who is always reminding me to optimize this area,” Prof. Jamal concluded.
During the ceremony, Prof. Jamal was accompanied by Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs UNS, Prof. Ahmad Yunus, Vice-Rector for Management and Human Resources Affairs UNS, Prof. Bandi, and Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation Affairs UNS, Prof. Kuncoro Diharjo.
