UNS — The Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta receives a wonderful gift for its 45th Anniversary. One of the greatest gifts is the achievement of the student from the Faculty of Sport (FKOR) UNS in an international tournament. The student, Zidni Rahma Amaly, who represents Indonesia in the ‘Virtual International Pencak Silat Championship 2021’ won 1st place, in the competition organized by the International Pencak Silat Alliance (Pesilat).
Zidni, the student of the Sports Coaching Education Program, who ranked first in the female category, outperforms the representative of Thailand and Brunei Darussalam, which receive the second and third positions respectively. Currently, Zidni has joined the Center for National Training (Pelatnas) for the preparation of the SEA Games in the Philippines. She was appointed to the Pelatnas after winning the Pre-PON Qualification.
The Vice-Dean for Academic, Research, and Student Affairs FKOR UNS, Dr. Rony Syaifullah, confirmed the news. “Competing at international level means, she represents her campus and country. Alhamdulillah, the result is outstanding,” he explains.
The tournament where Zidni participates is a virtual tournament. In the elimination round, all participants are requested to send a video demonstrating their Pencak Silat movements. This video cannot be edited, because it will be verified directly by the board of jury.
To train UNS Pencak silat representatives, Dr. Rony reveals that his party will organize a similar Virtual International Pencak Silat Championship. This event will be part of the 45th UNS Anniversary celebration. In the tournament, which is scheduled after the Eid festive, only single and group participation will be conducted due to the social limitation.
Dr. Rony hopes this achievement lasts for a long time. “Pencak silat UNS hold a tradition as champion. Before I joined UNS, after I joined UNS, and in the following generation, the students achieve many accomplishments. My hope is for this tradition to be a special characteristic of UNS. Hopefully, this tradition of achievement will always be maintained,” conclude the lecturer who was the coach for Indonesia Pencak Silat Team for Asian Games 2018. Humas UNS
