Presenting A Literature Review on Hearth Failure Prevention, UNS Students Won EXIT MRC 2021

UNS — Another astonishing achievement is accomplished by three students of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta in EXIT MRC 2021 organized by the Faculty of Medical Science (FK) Universitas Andalas, Sunday (7/3/2021). Ghazy Wira Pradipta, Affan Rayhan Ismail, and Farida Aisyah from the Medical Education Study Program class of 2018 successfully won 1st place in the Literature Review section.

In this event by the theme of Cardiovascular Disease and Lifestyle (Current Updates on Holistic Approaches of Cardiovascular Disease Related to Lifestyle), Affan and team must compete with dozens of other universities such as UI, UGM, Unhas, UB, Unair, Unand, Unmul, Unpad, Universitas Udayana, and others.

Based on the championship theme, the team chooses to work on a review entitled “Nano-modified RNA with RNA Aptamers Vaccine as Remodelling Therapy Post-Myocardial Infarction with Exercise-Based Cardiac Rehabilitation, to Prevent Heart Failure”.

“The title chosen is in line with the theme; the cardiovascular disease-related with lifestyle. After determining the title, we start the journal search on EBM (Evidence-Based Medicine) and other topics that can support our title,” Affan revealed to uns.ac.id, Thursday (11/3/2020).

Not only fit the theme, but the team also supervised by dr. Habibie Arifianto, Sp.JP(K), M.Kes, FIHA., choose the title because the topic of heart disease therapy based on molecular technology is currently under intensive research by many researchers in the world.

Affan added that hearth therapy using nucleic acids can target more cardiomyocytes, can lead to reduced fibrosis, and can increase the regeneration of cardiomyocytes, which is more promising than the other methods. “Moreover, this molecular vaccine method is less invasive compared to other types of therapy,” he added.

Regarding the final round, Affan and the team, together with the other 10 finalists must present their literature review in front of the juries, who are the expert in cardiovascular. However, because the final round was conducted virtually, the team members are not staying in the same place. Because of the virtual event, some problems are faced by the team such as slow internet connection, limited time, and limited team communication.

At the end of the interview, Affan expresses his hope. He wishes that the literature review can be useful for anyone as an actual literature material and source. Further, he also hopes that the idea proposed in this review can be developed into technological-based research. Additionally, their achievement can contribute to UNS and FK UNS achievement in the scientific field.

“Hopefully, this achievement can motivate us and other people to explore more interests and talents in the scientific sector, especially literature review,” Affan concluded. Humas UNS
