A Message From Luhut Pandjaitan in Virtual Convocation II UNS

UNS — The Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves) RI, Jenderal TNI (HOR) (Purn) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, M.P.A., delivers two messages for the Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Diploma, Bachelor, and Postgraduate graduates in the Virtual Convocation II, Saturday (24/4/2021) afternoon. The first message is encouraging the UNS graduates to share their knowledge to develop Indonesia. Luhut considers this action as an essential matter because the current digitalization has disrupted all aspects of human life and become the focus of investment, which is supported by big data and advanced technology.

“The government planned this (red: digitalization). All aspects of our lives are impacted by technology. The technology advancement also gives the community more opportunity and making digitalization as the prima donna in investment other than industry,” said Luhut Pandjaitan.

In front of the graduates and family, who joined the convocation ceremony through Zoom Cloud Meeting and a Youtube Livestream, Mr. Pandjaitan invites UNS graduates to join the Kemenko Marves. Alongside his Ministerial, he hopes UNS graduates can provide a real contribution, implementing technology, creating employment, and delivering much innovation to answer community needs. This encouragement is in line with the spirit of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), who is currently accelerating the national development in new and sustainable energy through geothermal, solar power, wind, ocean waves, and hydropower.
The second message from Mr. Pandjaitan is the importance of UNS graduates to work following their heart and have a good character. The two messages from Mr. Pandjaitan must be supported with the awareness to benefit others. This message was delivered by the former Chief of Presidential Staff 2014-2015 because nowadays there is numerous young generation who possess excellent competency to build the nation but do not have a good character.

He ensures that working by heart and having a good character is supported by the current government commitment to encourage the Indonesian transformation through digitalization. He firmly guarantees that the policies taken by the government will not harm the young Indonesian generation. Thus, it is the mission of the government to achieve a knowledge-based economic ecosystem and human resource-based economic innovation.

“If you do not have a good character and do not have a pure heart, you will not have any initiative to help others without boundaries of ethnicity, religion, and all kinds. Hence, you are not maximizing God’s blessing. Integrity is very, very important in your life,” he stresses. Humas UNS
