UNS — The Head of Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Headquarter and the former vice-president of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) 2004-2009 and 2014-2019, Dr. (H.C.) Drs. H. Muhammad Jusuf Kalla officially opened the Volunteer Week & Youth Competition 8th Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta on Saturday (22/5/2021). The event was live-broadcasted on KSR UNS YouTube channel.
In his opening remark, Dr. (H.C.) Drs. H. Muhammad Jusuf Kalla appreciated Korps Sukarela (KRS) UNS for initiating the Volunteer Week & Youth Competition 8th UNS 2021. He thinks volunteering should be nurtured from a young age. “The global red cross movement is supported by millions of volunteers around the world. Because the basis of the red cross movement is volunteering,” Jusuf Kalla stated.
Dr. (H.C.) Drs. H. Muhammad Jusuf Kalla added that the spirit of cooperation and volunteering had encouraged the volunteers around the globe at school, university, volunteer community, and volunteer donors to help the community. “Therefore, the Volunteer Week & Youth Competition 8th held by UNS is vital as the means of education and volunteer recruitment,” he concluded.
The event was also praised by the Director of Academic Reputation and Student Affairs UNS, Dr. Sutanto, DEA. To the members of KSR UNS and the participants of Volunteer Week & Youth Competition 8th UNS 2021, Dr. Sutanto, DEA, stated that the event is an implementation of knowledge to help each other and uphold the truth. He reminded the participants to help and care for others in need. For Dr. Sutanto, DEA, the young volunteers should utilize their time for activities that benefit others.
“Fill your time with knowledge and cares. The future is short, and it is almost impossible for us to tell when our future is. Tomorrow is the future. People who attend the future the quickest are those who will win this disruptive era,” Dr. Sutanto, DEA, stated
The Volunteer Week & Youth Competition 8th UNS 2021 is initiated by KSR UNS. Seventy-three contingents of youth red cross (PMR) 43 contingents of university red cross (KSR) from all over Indonesia participated in the online event. Humas UNS
