UNS — The Covid-19 pandemics shook many sectors, including the economics sector. Indonesia’s finance was decreased due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. Big companies and businesses are greatly affected by the pandemic. The effect of the pandemic is also significant for the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Few of the MSMEs can survive, but some others have to close temporarily or even go out of business. Responding to the decline in MSMEs’ revenue, the Central Bank of Indonesia (Bank Indonesia – BI), distribute Bank Indonesia Social Program (PSBI) through its Solo Region Representative Office. The assistance was delivered to the UNS MSMEs partners on Thursday (26/8/2021).
The Rector of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS), Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho, S.H., M.Hum., greatly appreciate the assistance. According to him, the assistance will be beneficial for the MSME entrepreneurs, especially during uncertain conditions. “The assistance provided by the Bank Indonesia to the UNS MSME partners is very useful, especially during this ongoing pandemic. The synergy between UNS and BI shall continue to various other aspects such as scholarship for UNS students, lecture material from BI, and collaborative research and community service,” said Prof. Jamal.
The assistance was given to 500 UNS MSMEs partners, consisting of groceries and multivitamins for the entrepreneurs for their daily life. This assistance is not the first assistance provided by the BI for MSMEs. Previously, the BI provided similar assistance in collaboration with UNS Alumni Association (IKA). This effort is a form of BI concern toward the community, especially the MSME entrepreneurs.
“Previously, we distribute similar assistance through the UNS Alumni Association (IKA UNS), and today we distribute another assistance through UNS. This assistance is small support from us to encourage the MSME entrepreneurs. Together we can go through this pandemic. Surviving this pandemic is not easy, but hopefully, the economic condition in the Solo region will recover soon,” said the Head of BI Solo Representative Office, Nugroho Joko Prastowo.
Until today, UNS has provided mentoring and coaching for the MSME in the Solo Region. Both activities are done by the Center for Study and Assistance for Cooperatives, Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (PSP-KUMKM). PSP-KUMKM is a center for study under the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) UNS.
Aside from the Rector of UNS and the Heads from BI Solo Representative Office, the event was attended by various other parties such as the UNS Vice-Rector for Planning, Partnership, Business, and Information Affairs, Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Sajidan, M. Si., the Head of LPPM UNS, Prof. Dr. Okid Parama Astirin, Deputy Chief Representative of Bank Indonesia Solo, Gunawan Purbowo, and Bimala. Humas UNS
