UNS Industrial Engineering Student Selected for IISMA Co-Funding at the University of Colorado Boulder, USA

UNS – Danish Faizi Adinata, a student of the Industrial Engineering Study Program, Faculty of Engineering (FT) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta successfully qualified for the Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA) Co-Funding 2023. He is currently in his fifth semester.

IISMA Co-Funding is a partial funding scheme involving both students and the government. Through this scheme, the IISMA Co-Funding Program provides more opportunities for Indonesian students who wish to study at prestigious foreign universities for a semester. The funding for IISMA Co-Funding comes from two sources, government funding and self-financing by the students. In this program, Danish chose the University of Colorado Boulder in the United States of America.

“When I found out that I had been selected, I felt grateful, very happy, and I couldn’t believe it because I previously didn’t qualify for the fully funded IISMA. So, when the Co-Funding results were announced, I had to read it multiple times before I was convinced that I had been accepted,” he said as quoted from ft.uns.ac.id on Tuesday (15/8/2023).

The fifth-semester student chose the University of Colorado Boulder because some of the offered courses were closely related to industrial engineering subjects, making them recognizable.

“Furthermore, since childhood, I’ve always aspired to study in the United States of America, and when there was a host university in America, I directly chose the University of Colorado Boulder. Moreover, the courses offered were very interesting and aligned, which motivated me to delve deeper into my study there,” he added.

Danish’s plan is to attend lectures there starting from August 23 to December 14, 2023.

“I hope to give my best as a representative of Indonesian students there and expand my relationships with lecturers, professors, and fellow students in America. I also hope that other friends will have the opportunity to gain the same experience as the IISMA in the following year and bring benefits to their respective universities and faculties,” he concluded.

In addition to Danish Faizi Adinata from the Industrial Engineering Study Program of the Faculty of Engineering, there are four other students who have also passed the IISMA Co-Funding 2023 Program. They are: Nadine Shafa Nabila from the Communication Studies Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at Vytautas Magnus University in Lithuania; Odie Yohandi from the Communication Studies Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at the Middle East Technical University in Turkey; Aurelia Natalie Sumarsono from the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) Management Study Program at the University of York in the United Kingdom (UK); and Nanda Jhaneta Pricela from the Medical Faculty (FK) Study Program at Palacky University Olomouc in the Czech Republic.
