UNS Receives Visit from Indonesian National Resilience Council

UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta received a visit from the National Resilience Council (Wantannas) of the Republic of Indonesia (RI). During the visit, the delegation from Wantannas, led by the Deputy for Assessment and Sensing of the Secretary General of Wantannas, Rear Admiral TNI Dr. TSNB Hutabarat, was warmly welcomed by the Rector of UNS, Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho, S.H., M.Hum., and the Vice Rector for Research and Innovation UNS, Prof. Dr. Kuncoro Diharjo, S.T., M.T. in the Rector’s meeting room, Dr. Prakosa building UNS, Thursday (12/10/2023).

Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho, S.H., M.Hum., the Rector of UNS, warmly welcomed the team from Wantannas RI, who visited primarily the Lithium Battery Center of Excellence (PUI Baterai Lithium) at UNS. On this occasion, Prof. Jamal explained that UNS has three Centers of Excellence, namely the Lithium Battery Center of Excellence, the Javanology Center of Excellence, and the Center for Fintech and Banking Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS Fintech Center).

“Currently, UNS has around 47,000 students and 1,800 lecturers, nearly 50 percent of whom hold doctoral degrees, and 20 percent are professors. What we can offer regarding lithium batteries for Wantannas can be conveyed during this visit,” Prof. Jamal explained.

For lithium batteries, UNS has its own production facility located on Slamet Riyadi Street in Surakarta, specifically in Purwosari. Prof. Jamal mentioned that many prominent figures had visited the Lithium Batteries Center of Excellence to provide support and input for the development of lithium batteries. “General TNI (Ret.) Moeldoko and Head of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), Dr. Like Tri Handoko, have visited the UNS Lithium Battery Center of Excellence. And the Lithium Battery Center of Excellence has collaborated with external parties; one of them is Pertamina. The presence of lithium batteries is highly anticipated because electric vehicles are becoming more prevalent in Indonesia,” he added.

Prof. Jamal also mentioned that UNS offers a professional program for industry professionals to engage with the university. “We welcome these professionals to share their knowledge and expertise by delivering lectures and practical experiences to UNS students. This program is highly appreciated, and students are delighted to meet practitioners from the industry. We hope that Wantannas can participate in advancing and enhancing the knowledge of UNS students,” Prof. Jamal said.

Meanwhile, Rear Admiral TNI Dr. T.S.N.B. Hutabarat, Deputy for Assessment and Sensing of the National Secretary General, stated that the National Resilience Council had the duty to assist the President in conducting national resilience development programs to ensure the achievement of Indonesia’s national goals and interests.

“We are tasked with studying renewable energy. One of our actions was contacting UNS because UNS conducts research on lithium batteries. We want to gain a deeper understanding of the lithium batteries produced by UNS,” he explained.

Rear Admiral TNI Dr. T.S.N.B. Hutabarat expressed his gratitude to UNS for the warm welcome. “Thank you; we are pleased because the Rector personally welcomed us,” he concluded. HUMAS UNS
