UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta has officially opened the 2026 Independent Admission Selection as part of its commitment to expanding access to higher education for all levels of society in Indonesia. The UNS Independent Admission Selection is designed to provide broader, more inclusive, and equitable opportunities for prospective students from various backgrounds and with diverse potentials.
During the launching event of the UNS Independent Admission Selection on Monday (11/5/2026), the Rector of UNS, Prof. Dr. Hartono, dr., M.Si., stated that according to the Regulation of the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Number 3 of 2026 concerning Student Admissions for Diploma and Undergraduate Programs at State Universities, public universities may admit students through three pathways: the National Selection Based on Achievement (SNBP), the National Selection Based on Test (SNBT), and the Independent Admission Selection.
“Alhamdulillah, the SNBP results were announced on March 31, 2026. A total of 2,432 applicants to UNS were declared successful. The accepted students came from various regions across Indonesia, covering 185 regencies/cities from 31 provinces. The total number of SNBP applicants reached 40,042, an increase of 3% compared to 2025,” said Prof. Hartono, who was accompanied by the Vice Rector for Academic and Research Affairs, Prof. Dr. Fitria Rahmawati, S.Si., M.Si.; Head of the UNS Student Admission Office (SPMB), Prof. Drs. Sutarno, M.Sc., Ph.D.; and Head of the Vocational and Undergraduate Program Division, Ir. Widiyanto, S.P., M.Si., Ph.D.
Meanwhile, for the SNBT pathway, the Computer-Based Written Test (UTBK) held from April 21–29, 2026, was successfully conducted. A total of 26,981 participants took the test at the UNS UTBK Center.
“We would also like to inform you that the number of applicants applying to study programs at UNS through the SNBT pathway reached 91,613. The SNBT results will be announced on May 25, 2026. Besides SNBP and SNBT, UNS still provides opportunities for prospective students through the Independent Admission pathway,” he added.
The 2026 UNS Independent Admission Selection consists of three admission categories. First, the Regular Pathway, which includes the UNS Written Examination and the use of UTBK SNPMB scores. Second, the Affirmation Pathway, intended for specific groups, including students with disabilities, outstanding students, social welfare applicants, and recipients of the Indonesia Smart College Card (KIP-K). Third, the Partnership Pathway, which includes collaborations with strategic partners and the UNS Alumni Association (IKA UNS).
Through these various pathways, UNS is committed to providing an adaptive and inclusive student admission system capable of attracting talented students from all parts of Indonesia.
Registration for the 2026 UNS Independent Admission Selection is open from May 11 to June 2, 2026. The written examination will be held on June 8–11, 2026. The examination for international class programs is scheduled for June 12–13, 2026, while the announcement of results will take place on June 24, 2026. The entire selection process is prepared to provide the widest possible opportunity for the best prospective students to join and continue their studies at UNS.
In the 2026 Independent Admission Selection, UNS is also opening five new study programs:
- Bachelor’s Program in Japanese Language and Culture
- Applied Bachelor’s Program in Library and Information Science
- Applied Bachelor’s Program in Food Engineering Technology
- Applied Bachelor’s Program in Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence
- Bachelor’s Program in Islamic Economics and Finance
