Aligning Education and Industrial World, UNS Collaborate with PT. BUMA and PT. INOX

UNS — The Kampus Merdeka, Merdeka Belajar Program is officially launched by the Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud). This program demands the university to increase its alignment between education, industry, and community. To answer this challenge, Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta strengthen its collaboration with several industrial firms.

Recently, UNS develop a collaboration with PT. Bukit Makmur Mandiri Utama (BUMA) and PT. Inox Reka Presisi (INOX). The signing ceremony was conducted in UNS Central Office on Tuesday (9/3/2021). The collaboration among these institutions will build a strong partnership between the industry and the education to improve and develop training and education for vocational programs. The partnership also aims to conduct studies on the production and development of spare-part, waste management, and renewable energy.

Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs UNS, Prof. Dr. Ir. Ahmad Yunus, M.S. welcomed this collaboration well. “UNS is very thankful for the partnership because the ministry now demands us to develop an internship program for Kampus Merdeka. This program will support the Kampus Merdeka, Merdeka Belajar program,” he stated.

The Director of PT. INOX, Evan Pono stated that his firm is grateful to be able to contribute in the effort to align the industrial and educational world. “The learning recognition can be a solution to align the industry and the academic activities in the university,” he added.

The General Manager-Sustainability (GM-S) PT. BUMA, Kristiyanto Widiyawan strongly hopes that this collaboration will not stop at the research for product development. “We hope that this effort does not stop at research but also assisting in our product evaluation because our market spread at the national and international levels,” Kristiyanto stated.

Besides signing the collaboration agreement, the ceremony also included product launching from UNS collaboration with PT. BUMA and PT. ENKA last year. The partnership agreed on 16 February 2020 resulted in Tooth Bucket Assy System with 200 tons capacity. The product consists of three forms, the adapter (corner adapter and center adapter), log pin, and tooth. The launching is expected to be a beautiful gift for UNS’ 45th Anniversary.
