Collaborating With PKK, UNS Students Held Face Shield Production Training in Wonogiri

UNS — A team of Student Community Service Program in Universitas Sebelas Maret (KKN UNS) Surakarta, deployed in Ngargoharjo Village, Giritontro Sub District, Wonogiri, recently conducted training in face shield production. This event was held on Saturday (20/2/2021) involving the administrator of the Family Welfare and Empowerment (PKK) unit in Ngargoharjo.

A face shield is a tool to protect our face from droplets in an effort to stop Covid-19 spread. However, a face shield must be worn with masks, because its function will not optimum without masks. This KKN program will be the last training in a series of training programs to support 3M (washing hands, wear masks, and keep a safe distance) movement in the community.

“The training is started with basic material on the function and advantage of a face shield, followed by training in face shield production until the product is ready for use. Our objective is to support the Covid-19 prevention education in Ngargoharjo,” explains the leader of KKN UNS group 86, Ihsan Nur Hidayat.

During the program implementation, the group also limits the number of participants to avoid the crowd. Especially, because currently, the Java and Bali regions are under the Community Activity Limitation (PPKM). The community of Ngargoharjo is enthusiastic about participating in various events conducted by the UNS KKN team, one of them is face shield production. This information is revealed by the Ngargoharjo Village Secretary, Wartono while attending the training.

“I want to thanks the UNS students for conducting various activities. We are really happy and appreciate this program,” Wartono states.

Ihsan hopes that the program can give additional skills to the community. “Hopefully, this can add to the villagers’ skills and become business opportunities. Moreover, through the Covid-19 education, the PKK admins are expected to be Covid-19 education agents at the family level, as an effort to limit the virus spread,” the student of Communication Science Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Science (FISIP) UNS, concluded.  Humas UNS
