Commemorating 78th Anniversary of Indonesia’s Independence Day, UNS Rector and Academic Community Hold Joint Competitions

UNS — Commemorating the 78th anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia (RI), the Rector of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, along with the academic community, including lecturers, education staff, and students, participated in joint competitions. The competitions were held in the dr. Prakosa UNS Building’s courtyard on Friday (11/8/2023) starting with a group exercise session.

In his speech, the Rector of UNS, Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho, S.H., M.Hum., said that these exercises and joint competitions were organized to celebrate the Republic of Indonesia’s Independence Day. “This morning, we exercised together and then continued with various fun competitions. Let’s have some fun while building camaraderie with colleagues from different units, all while enjoying the breakfast prepared by the organizing committee,” Prof. Jamal explained.

To commemorate the 78th anniversary of Indonesia’s Independence Day, UNS held various competitions for leaders, lecturers, educational staff, and students, including student organizations (Ormawa). Among the competitions held on Friday (11/8/2023) were a relay competition using sarongs, a blindfolded march, a relay of transferring plastic cups with balloons, a rubber bracelet relay, and a water relay. Notably, the Rector of UNS and his staff also took part in the competitions.

Furthermore, on August 15, there was also a singing competition involving representatives from different faculties and units. “So there will be a preliminary round to select the top 11 contestants who will proceed to the final round. The final singing competition will take place at the G.P.H. Haryo Mataram Auditorium of UNS after the flag-raising ceremony on August 17, 2023. After the ceremony, we will have a communal breakfast followed by the final singing competition and traditional attire showcase,” Prof. Jamal added.
