UNS — A team of student from law Science Program (FH) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta won the Best Contract category in Contract Drafting Competition Diponegoro Law Fair (DLF) 2020, Wednesday (25/10/2020). The team consists of Sofia Nur Rahmawati, Apritania Putri Setya Maratantri, Farah Sekar Sal Sabila, Naufal Hanif Andira, Fida Nisrina Iftinani, Hadhika Afghani Imansyah and Marcellina Dwita Ayu Lukita Wardhani as official. Their team name is Samuel Morse. In the competition under the theme of “Technology and Rule of Law based on Pancasila” held on 23-25 October 2020, the Samuel Morse UNS team has to compete with the other 25 universities such as Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) Yogyakarta, Universitas Padjadjaran (Unpad) Bandung and Universitas Airlangga (Unair) Surabaya.
Under the supervision from Dona Budi Kharisma, S.H, M.H and Kukuh Tedjomurti, S.H, LLM, the six students have prepared for Contract Drafting DLF 2020 competition since August 2020. They learned materials from books, journals, and Laws (UU) concerning position case. The team member, Apritania Putri Setya Maratantri, said that the greatest challenge that she and her team experience in preparing for the competition are to master the skill to comprehend a position case. She stated that position case she had reviewed to prepare an agreement is very complicated and has a very high contract value so that not all law teachers and several experts can understand the position case. “The other challenges that we experienced are because of the pandemic, while some of our members are from outside Solo so that we need to have an online discussion in the first and second week,” Apritania stated. The pandemic, she added, also hinder them from having a consultation with their supervisors. In the end, Apritania and her teammates step out of their comfort zone and sent e-mails to legal institutes and experts to discuss the position case.
During the Contract Drafting DLF 2020 competition, Apritania admitted that the competition trained her mental, knowledge, and critical thinking. She also learned a lot of knowledge from DLF this year. “Hopefully in the future, there is offline DLF in which UNS students can participate and bring home a trophy,” Apritania added. With this achievement, Apritania represents her friends hopes that UNS students who can to compete in DLF to dare to try and willing to train and learn.
“I hope that (UNS students) are not scared to try the things that people consider as too high or prestigious. As we know that DLF is the most prestigious annual competition for law students so that many people feel inferior before trying. So, don’t afraid to try and challenge yourself in positive stuff,” Apritania concluded. Humas UNS
