UNS – The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) hosted a socialization event on Key Performance Indicators (IKU) for higher education institutions. The event took place on Wednesday (12/3/2025) at the Senate Meeting Room of the Soetomo Darsowiratmo Building. The event aimed to strengthen the academic community’s understanding of IKU’s role in university rankings and institutional performance evaluation.
The event brought together key faculty members, including heads of study programs, vice deans, lecturers, and educational staff. FMIPA UNS Dean, Prof. Dr. Desi Suci Handayani, S.Si., M.Si., officially opened the session. She emphasized the need for continuous improvement and innovation to ensure FMIPA remains competitive.
“We hope this session provides valuable insight. Additionally, we aim for it to serve as a concrete step toward enhancing FMIPA’s performance in achieving IKU targets,” she stated.
The event featured a presentation by Ibrahim Fatwa Wijaya, S.E., M.Sc., Ph.D., UNS Director of Planning, Cooperation, Internationalization, and Reputation. He explained the fundamental concept of IKU, its implementation in universities, and its impact on education quality. He also stressed the need for collaboration among faculties, study programs, and administrative teams to successfully achieve these performance indicators.

“In today’s competitive academic environment, Indonesian universities must implement transparent, objective evaluation systems. IKU serves as a benchmark for monitoring and improving university performance,” Ibrahim explained.
He further elaborated on the strategic steps universities can take to align with national and international standards. These include strengthening industry partnerships, increasing graduate employability, and enhancing research output. By focusing on these areas, universities can significantly improve their rankings and reputation.
The session also included a discussion on the challenges and opportunities in achieving IKU targets. Participants raised concerns about resource allocation, administrative efficiency, and the need for continuous faculty development. Ibrahim emphasized that achieving IKU requires a collective effort from all university stakeholders.
This socialization program serves as an initial step in FMIPA UNS’s strategy to enhance academic and research quality. By strengthening their understanding of performance indicators, faculty members can contribute to a more effective, high-quality education system. The event received positive responses from participants, who acknowledged its importance in supporting academic excellence. With a clear understanding of IKU, FMIPA UNS aims to continue innovating. The faculty strives to make a significant impact on higher education development in Indonesia.
