UNS – The student of Statistics Program Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science (FMIPA) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta initiated the Warung Hidup (Live Warung) and Apotek Hidup (Live Pharmacy) program amid the pandemic. The program was initiated by Reni Anggraini, a 6th-semester student who currently join batch-2 UNS Covid-19 Handling Community Service Program (KKN). The Warung and Apotek Hidup consist of various vegetables and herbs.
The program was initiated in Reni’s hometown, Jingin, Margomulyo, Sleman, Yogyakarta and was triggered by the economic impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. “Many people experienced declining income, and many workers were laid off. This affects the fulfillment of people’s needs. Warung hidup can sustain the demand of foods and Apotek hidup can be used to improve immunity from the herbs,” she explained to uns.ac.id, Monday (22/6/2020).
Vegetables grown include chili, tomatoes, eggplant, water spinach, spinach, mustard greens, mustard greens, leeks, celery, basil, cauliflower, cabbage, cucumbers, long beans, and lettuce. Then in the Apotek hidup there are ginger, turmeric, kencur, and ginseng. Reni also approached the community to implement the program through direct or door to door socialization, sharing herbs, and installed banner. She wished that the program can help the community.
