UNS — Faculty of Medical Science (FK) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held a “Telling Success Story” event with Brigadier General (Brigjend) TNI dr. Agung Hermawanto, Sp.KJ., M.M.R.S., FK UNS excellent alumnus of 2021. The hybrid offline-online event was broadcasted through Zoom Cloud Meeting, and FK UNS Official YouTube channel live from FK UNS Auditorium on Friday (12/3/2021).
The Dean of FK UNS, Prof. Dr. Reviono, dr., Sp.P(K), and his executive board, Faculty Members, and FK UNS students attended the event. Prof. Reviono mentioned in his remark that he hopes participants can learn from various inspirational stories shared by FK UNS excellent alumnus. Opening the sharing session, the wife of Brigjen TNI Agung fully understands how their achievement is largely because of their parents’ efforts and reminding all participants that parental blessing is essential in life.
“What Mr. Agung shared to this day, as what you heard, are inseparable from parental blessing. Thus, Mr. Agung’s achievements, the most important thing in his life, are his parents. So, all students here, to be successful, it is inseparable from parental blessings,” Brigjen TNI Agung’s wife stated.
Known as a humorous persona, Brigjen TNI Agung has a long journey in his healthcare and military career. This FK UNS alumnus continued his mental health specialist education in 1999 and received a Master’s Degree in Hospital Management in 2010. Currently, the Brigadier General is taking Sub-specialization in Addiction Psychiatry since 2019. His military career started in Voluntary Military Officer School (Sekolah Perwira Militer Sukarela – Sepamilsuk) 1991. He gained significant experience from military operations in Papua and Aceh. His career started to grow after serving as Chief of Healthcare Department in Military Academy (Akmil) Magelang in 2013 and the Chief of Psychological Healthcare Department in the Army Central Hospital (RSPAD) Gatot Soebroto. Now, he is serving as Deputy Chief of the Army Health Center (Wakapuskesad).
He also provides an active contribution in Covid-19 pandemic handling, particularly in preparing Athlete Village (Wisma Atlet) as Emergency Hospital Wisma Atlet, preparing massive PCR test, and medical waste management. “Amid the pandemic, we are trusted and get an opportunity to serve the country. First, we prepared Wisma Atlet Emergency Hospital. It is an invaluable experience for me. I think at the time, when inter-ministries, agencies, and institutions became one, I need to “destroy” Wisma Atlet as an athlete village and change it into an emergency hospital,” Brigjen TNI Agung said.
At the end of the session, Brigjend TNI Agung gave a motivational message to the participants. The vital points that need to be maintained are work sincerely, learning is a must, have a confidence on your ability, Allah will always be with us, and ojo kagetan-ojo gumunan-ojo dumeh (don’t be easily startled, don’t be gullible, and don’t be arrogant).
“We study at university for intellectual ability; this is important. Intellectual ability will be our tool in solving life problems and workplace problems,” Brigjen TNI Agung said. Humas UNS
