The Chief of Event Committee, Dr. Deny Tri Ardianto, MA, stated that UNS has 16 faculty members who graduated from universities in Germany and seven faculty members who graduated from universities in Austria. This event is initiated through a chat between Dr. Deny and the Rector, who suggested that the alumni from foreign universities to meet, which Prof. Sajidan supports.
“Finally, I contacted the alumni from Germany and Austria because I am an alumnus of Germany university, to gather. My fellows, alumni from Germany and Austria, were happy and wanted to participate. Thus, we held this halalbihalal,” Dr. Deny, the alumnus of Hochschule Fur Bildende Kunste Braunschweig, Germany, stated.
Since the 2000s, UNS has developed collaboration with higher education in Germany and Austria. “This forum is expected to, first silaturahmi, then to discuss and bring more collaboration with more campuses in Germany and Austria,” Dr. Deny said.
The Rector of UNS, Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho, was delighted to be around the alumni from Germany and Austria. “At the time, I said to Pak Deny, you are an alumnus from Germany, go invite your friends for discussion and talk about the opportunities for UNS. Thus, this halalbihalal was held,” Prof. Jamal said.
The meeting resulted in research collaboration, teacher exchange, student exchange, and other activities. “Could be a research collaboration with universities in Germany and Austria, our teachers teaching there and vice versa, and many others could be implemented. The role of these alumni is vital for UNS internationalization efforts,” Prof. Jamal stated.
Prof. Jamal hoped that these activities could be followed up and improved. “After this meeting, hopefully, there is a plan for a research center. We can coordinate it. And currently, UNS is building an eleven floors tower, which can be used as a research center. For example, Germany, Austria, Netherlands, Australia, US, and others. And the Germany and Austria alumni gathering can be copied by other alumni to hold similar meeting which could bring collaboration for UNS development,” Prof. Jamal concluded. Humas UNS
