UNS — The IKA UNS Color Run 2023 on Saturday morning (4/3/2023) at lake of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta was lively. More than 1,000 participants from various regions took part in this 3 km, 5 km and 11 km race. IKA UNS Color Run was an agenda initiated by the UNS Alumni Association (IKA).
The event was opened directly by the Mayor of Surakarta, Gibran Rakabuming Raka by raising the flag at the start point. Apart from Gibran, it was also attended the Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, Head of IKA UNS, Ir. Budi Harto; and several university leaders.
Prof. Jamal appreciated the running competition which was held in commemoration of the 47th Dies Natalis UNS.
“I appreciate the committee that has held this event. I hope that the IKA UNS Color Run will become an annual agenda ahead of the Dies Natalis. Not only being a sport event, but also this event is a forum for UNS alumni to meet again on campus. Moreover, many participants and alumni from out of town have come to take part in this event,” he said while giving his speech.
Furthermore, he said that the presence of alumni from various cities and provinces in celebrating this event was a form of alumni’s concern for the almamater which had become a place to study.
“Hopefully next year, there will be even more participants and more alumni who will be able to come to UNS,” he added.
The Mayor of Surakarta also appreciated this running competition event.
“I welcome this event, the activity is lively and positive. We, from the City Government, are very supportive,” he said after the event.
There were three choices of routes in this race: 3 km, 5 km and 11 km. Runners in the male and female categories who manage to finish in first to third place were entitled to receive cash prizes as champions. Meanwhile, runners who successfully completed the route would receive a medal. In addition, there were also various interesting doorprizes with a total of Rp. 270 million which were drawn for participants in this event. Humas UNS
