UNS – The first virtual film screening is held by Student Activity Unit (UKM) Kine Klub FISIP Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, Thursday (10/5/2020). This agenda is broadcasted live through Kine Klub FISIP UNS Youtube channel. In total there are 638 participants from various regions and other universities who attended the event to watch the screening.
Small screening is routinely held each year to showcase the Kine Klub FISIP UNS Members’ film production. In 2020 the Kinetron theme is chosen with a hope that this screening can continue to be held and can continue to be enjoyed by loyal viewers of the country’s film industry. Initially, screening is planned to held directly by inviting Solo residents to attend to watch the screening and discuss together the film being shown. However, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the organizer chooses to hold the event through the online system.
There are three types of screening held during the event, the main film screening, Kine Klub member’s film screening, and community film screening. “Mamam” a film produced by Ivo Saka Yuvens or Sakayuuuv become the first film viewed that night. Afterward, four films produced by Kine Klub members are played, which titles are “Ayang”, “Bejo”, “Checkmate” and “Fokus”. At the end of the event, for the community film category, a film from Himafisi, Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Solo entitled “Makan Bersama” and “Mati Emosi” produced by Kineclub Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) was played.
The response given by the participants of the event was very enthusiastic, especially for the film “Checkmate”. After the screening, the event is followed by a discussion with the main film producer named Saka through an Instagram account @kineunssolo live streaming. The discussion was led by a moderator, Muhammad Feraldi, and was discussing film production as well as interesting facts about the film “Mamam”.
When interviewed by uns.ac.id team, the Head of the Film Screening Committee, Ifdal Ichlasul Amal expressed his hope that the event can have a positive effect on the society. The current condition is difficult and there are many agendas in the movie industry take a break until an undetermined time.
“Keep the spirit, keep working, keep doing community activities, despite being in the midst of a disaster that we all do not know where the ends are,” advised Ifdal for the film community colleagues. Humas UNS/Ratri/Dwi
