UNS — The online and offline Student Community Service Program (KKN) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta in January – February 2021 continues to bring students’ creativity to create a working program that meets the target village’s needs. Team 78 KKN UNS in Sambirembe Village, Kalijambe Subdistrict, Sragen District prepared a plan to empower the community amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
The abundant goyor woven fabric production potential in Sambirembe Village can be developed further. Rejected fabric usually has a low price which prompted the team to conduct branding and marketing socialization on Saturday (20/2/2021). The event is a part of goyor woven fabric production series held previous week that process goyor fabrics into pouch bag. “The program was held in collaboration with weavers and tailors in Kelompok Pemberdayaan dan Kesejahteraan Keluarga (PKK) and Karang Taruna Sambirembe Village,” Raka Nenggala Sukma Team 78 KKN UNS team leader explained.
Product branding material was delivered by Dinna Devina Ardelia Putri, who stated that branding is vital because it built product image for other people when they heard the product name. An example of a branding effort is the product logo. “That’s why we create product logos based on certain philosophies,” she said.
Product branding is also an effort to introduce the woven fabric to the national market as a broader market share. She added that producing pouch can act as a branding method and solve rejected fabric problems that added production costs to goyor weaver. The product will provide economic support for goyor weaver as a side income generator. The training has succeeded in creating distinct product labels. The young generation in the village also benefitted from the use of technology to market goyor marketing process. Humas UNS
