UNS—Lazis Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held several real efforts to break the chain of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) spread. The event titled ‘Action to Prevent Corona’ has been held by Lazis UNS from Monday (16/3/2020).
“Lazis UNS’ ‘Action to Prevent Corona’ has been held since the KLB status was implemented in Solo. Lazis UNS responded directly with several actions, implementing ‘work from home’ system for Lazis UNS employees since 16 May 2020, (and) is targeted until the KLB over,” said Lazis UNS General Manager, Catur Wibowo, in the press release received by uns.ac.id, Thursday (9/4/2020).
During the emergency response period, Lazis UNS also opened a donation program and procurement of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for medical personnel with the title ‘Support the Front Line to Fight Corona’. The donation covers the procurement of PPE, distribution of PPE, and distribution of supplements. Lazis UNS also targeted to collect Rp 200 million funds during the donation.
“Monday (30/3/2020) Lazis UNS conducted the first batch of PPE and supplements distribution for a medical team in UNS Hospital, Pabelan. The first batch distribution consists of 4 boxes of medical gloves or medical latex examination gloves, each box has 100 units. Second, 20 liters hand sanitizer, third 25 bottles vitamin C/Lemon Water, each bottle contains 250 ml, fourth, 25 bottles of honey, each bottle contains 1 Kg (honey),” Catur added.
The PPE distribution was conducted by Lazis UNS in several Hospitals and Healthcare Facilities in need. In the future, Lazis UNS will conduct the additional distribution of assistance in the second week of April 2020 in form of hazmat suits, medical masks, hand sanitizers, disinfectants.
The assistance is not limited to PPE, Lazis UNS also conducts a program to prevent COVID-19 spread in various mosques and public facilities. The program started on Friday (27/3/2020) and includes disinfectant spraying, hand sanitizer dispenser installation, and distribution of hand sanitizer in five different places; Nurul Amal Mosque Jebres, Baitu Salam Mosque Jebres, Abu Bakar Mosque Jebres, Al Mahmudah Mosque Mojosongo, and Al Barokah Sabrang Lor Mosque.
“The program to prevent COVID-19 spread in various mosques and public facilities is conducted periodically and continuously by Lazis UNS until Thursday (2/4/2020) such as in SAR UNS office, shopping complex behind UNS, and UNS post offie,” Catur continued.
With Lazis UNS ‘Action to Prevent Corona’, Catur Wibowo hopes that there will be many parties/institutions that will be moved to help Lazis UNS humanitarian actions during COVID-19 pandemic, especially in Solo
“In our field action, Lazis UNS team always pays attention to the safety of our team by wearing PPE, having good nutritional intake, and work to the maximum capacity.
