Learn PKM Writing with LSP FKIP UNS

UNS – To prepare students in Student Creativity Program (Program Kreativitas Mahasiswa – PKM) 2020, Institute for Education Study (Lembaga Lingkar Studi Pendidikan – LSP) Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta invited FKIP UNS students to learn how to write PKM through PKM Preparation 2020 event managed using Google Meet, Saturday (4/7/2020). The event was attended by around 130 participants. The webinar was led by Rozin Fata Ulawan, a student of Physics Education as the moderator and invited two speakers, Dr. Adam Wahida, as PKM UNS development team and Raditya Setiawan, PKM Center UNS team.

Raditya Setiawan stated that a journey to the National Student Science Week (Pekan Ilmiah Mahasiswa Nasional – Pimnas) starts from Student Science Week (Pekan Ilmiah Mahasiswa – PIM) UNS, followed by ministry-funded PKM and concluded in Pimnas. Since 2019, UNS also provided internal funding for PKM that fulfills UNS PIM requirements. The 8th-semester student also shared tips in writing PKM, reviewing previous research, finding a gap, and filling the gap through research, entrepreneurship, community service, technology, or conceptual idea. Raditya added that preparing PKM proposals get more difficult when the supervisor provided many revisions, though it is a vital input to polish student’s writing. A supervisor has a role in revising the student’s proposal, accompany, and provide a wide point of view for students.

Dr. Adam explained the benefits of writing PKM, among others, shaping student’s characters to be more creative, innovative, objective, and cooperative. PKM also becomes a medium for student’s creativity and a means to improve graduate’s quality in terms of academic knowledge, management skill, communication skill, and thinking skills, besides serving as the implementation of Tri Dharma in higher education. It is not merely the task of the students but also a task for teachers alike, and it is a certainty that students are required to manage their funds wisely. The number of questions and interaction between participants and the speaker reflects their enthusiasm toward the topic. Humas UNS
