UNS — In commemorating its 45th Anniversary, Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held an offline and online open Academic Senate Session broadcasted through UNS Official YouTube channel. In this event, the Minister of Education and Culture (Mendikbud) RI, Nadiem Anwar Makarim, B.A., M.B.A., provided his remark for the university.
Nadiem mentioned that the anniversary celebration is unique because it marks a new stage for UNS as University with Legal Entity (PTNBH) signed on 6 October 2020 through the Governmental Decree Number 56 of 2020. He added that this new status is a mandate he gave to UNS to manage the university more autonomously, more flexible, and adaptive in facing global changes and challenges.
The Minister also mentioned that UNS is one of the universities that have implemented the Kampus Merdeka program in its study programs. These programs are project-based learning collaborating with Google, opening 20 hectares of land with Sanggar Padi Rojo Lele Farmer Association, implementing sustainable chilly cultivation and marketing with farmers in Sukoharjo, and food crop and medicinal crops cultivation in Bromo Forest Karanganyar.
To support UNS collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Culture, the Directorate General (Ditjen) for Higher Education (Dikti) has inaugurated three centers for innovation in UNS, Center of Excellence (PUI) lithium battery, PUI fintech, and PUI Javanologi.
Nadiem also praises UNS that keeps shining from Surakarta to the world stage. “UNS always shines from Solo to the world stage through the development of science, arts, and technology-based on Javanese culture wisdom,” he explained.
To conclude his remark, Nadiem hopes that UNS will continue improving to create excellent graduates.
“Hopefully, with the PTNBH status, UNS will continue improving to create excellent graduates that ready to enter the workforce and or create jobs. Graduates with great characters and Pancasila people. Happy 45th Anniversary for UNS, keep advancing to build the country,” Nadiem concluded. Humas UNS
