Minister of Trade Represents 2025 Outstanding UNS Alumni

UNS – Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) has recognized Dr. Budi Santoso, M.Si., Minister of Trade, as one of its 2025 Outstanding Alumni. The university honored him during its 49th Dies Natalis celebration at the G.P.H. Haryo Mataram Auditorium on Tuesday (11/3/2025). The event took place alongside the Open Session of the Academic Senate.

Among the 16 award recipients, two members of the Merah Putih Cabinet were honored: Dr. Budi Santoso, M.Si., Minister of Trade and an alumnus of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), and Agus Jabo Priyono, Deputy Minister of Social Affairs and an alumnus of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP).

Among the 16 award recipients, Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) honored two Merah Putih Cabinet members. They were Dr. Budi Santoso, M.Si., Minister of Trade, and Agus Jabo Priyono, Vice Minister of Social Affairs. Dr. Budi Santoso, M.Si., Minister of Trade, is an alumnus of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences. Meanwhile, Agus Jabo Priyono is an alumnus of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education.

UNS Rector Highlights Alumni Contributions

UNS Rector, Prof. Dr. Hartono, dr., M.Si., emphasized the importance of alumni contributions to the university and society. He stated that this recognition serves as an appreciation for their dedication and achievements.

“We acknowledge the significant role of alumni in UNS’s development and their impact on society. A strong network with the UNS Alumni Association (IKA UNS) is essential for the university’s growth. It supports UNS as a State-Owned Legal Entity University (PTNBH),” Prof. Hartono said.

He also encouraged the academic community to draw inspiration from these accomplished alumni and continue striving for excellence.

Minister of Trade Expresses Gratitude

Dr. Budi Santoso, M.Si., expressed his gratitude to UNS for shaping his career. “I am proud to be part of UNS. The people here have helped shape my journey. Without them, I wouldn’t be where I am today. This institution nurtured me, making me independent and capable of contributing to the nation,” he said.

Representing the 2025 Outstanding Alumni, he appreciated the recognition and encouraged students to maximize their university experience.

“University life is about more than just academics. It’s about learning to think critically, analytically, and creatively. The real challenge begins after graduation when you step into society. We graduate not when we complete our studies but when we achieve our dreams,” he added.

Commitment to National Development

Dr. Budi Santoso also called on the UNS community to support government programs in realizing the vision of an Advanced Indonesia by 2045.
