UNS – Recently, the Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta establish a Nazhir Waqf. This Nazhir Waqf is inaugurated by the Chairman of the Indonesian Waqf Board (BWI) Prof. Dr. Ir. Mohammad Nuh, DEA, through an online meeting on Friday (26/6/2020) through Zoom Cloud Meetings.
In his remarks, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho states that cash Nazhir Waqf is an effort to collect Waqf funds to build a business unit at UNS. Considering the number of UNS academic members, there is a quite significant potential of waqf fund, if it is managed professionally. In 2020 there are approximately 40,000 academic members in UNS.
“This potential, insyaallah, can be realized if there is an institution in UNS in a form of Nazhir Waqf. Institutionally, the Nazhir Waqf in UNS is officially established, and has been officially registered to the Indonesian Waqf Board under registration No: 3.3.00225, under the name of ‘Yayasan Keluarga Alumni UNS’,” explains Prof. Jamal.
The waqaf funds collected will be used and managed productively in accordance with sharia law, which will be realized in the form of land purchase, buildings, worship facilities, health facilities, educational facilities, sharia deposits, sharia investments, and others. Further, the income from the fund manager can also be used for scholarships, educational assistance, disaster management, and many others. Meanwhile, the waqf funds will be maintained and become an endowment.
“The UNS Nazhir Cash Waqf has been active since the opening of its three accounts in Bank Mega Syariah, BNI Syariah, and Bank Jateng Syariah, reaching a total cash waqf Rp. 136,960,918 as per June 26th, in which the amount Rp 100,000,000 donated by IKA UNS and the rest are from other waqif. Hopefully, after the launching, UNS Nazhir Waqf funds will grow rapidly to build a better UNS,” adds Prof. Jamal.
On the occasion, the Chairman of BWI, Prof. Dr. Ir. Mohammad Nuh, DEA, congratulate the Rector of UNS, the Chairman of IKA UNS, and the Management of UNS Waqf, for their efforts to support national waqf. “I offer my congratulations on the inauguration of the UNS Waqf Institution,” said Prof. Nuh. Following the inauguration, Prof. Nuh also delivers teaching to the UNS academics member and partners who were following the inauguration online.
Taking on the theme of Waqf: Welfare, Da’wah, and Dignity in Eternity, Prof Nuh states that, “This Nazhir Waqf in UNS is sourced from UNS academic members, alumni, and the partner institution. By appealing to Allah Almighty, Insyaallah Nazhir Wakaf UNS can be a source of inspiration for good deeds.”
Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Zudan Arif Fakrulloh, S.H., M.H., representing the IKA UNS expresses his pride toward the inauguration, while requesting all UNS alumni to take part in UNS Nazhir Waqf development. A similar request was made the Head of UNS Nazhir Waqf, Prof. Dr. Ir Sholahuddin, M.S., “It does not matter how much, as long as it was made sincerely. The response from the academic members was remarkable, there are several academic members who wish it to get deducted directly from the monthly remuneration. Later we will discuss more how the fund is managed,” explains Prof. Sholahuddin. Humas UNS/Dwi
