UNS – The Center for Science and Technology Excellence (PUI) Javanologi, Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held the announcement of the TOP 10 Institutions UNS Jawametric 2023 Awarding Night. The event took place at the Pendhapa R.Ng. Yasadipura PUI Javanologi UNS on Friday (21/7/2023) evening.
On this occasion, the Rector of UNS, represented by the Acting Vice Rector for Research and Innovation UNS, Prof. Dr. Kuncoro Diharjo, ST., M.T., said that the ranking compiled by PUI Javanologi UNS is a system that connects institutions with each other for the development of Javanese culture.
“The existence of Jawametric aligns with the noble vision of UNS, which is to become a center of science, technology, and art that excels internationally while upholding the noble values of the nation’s culture. In addition, UNS Jawametric is not just about providing rankings, but also offers information related to the development of Javanese culture. The Jawametric database can store and provide various Javanese-related aspects worldwide, facilitating connections and collaborations,” Prof. Kuncoro explained.
In his report, the Chairman of UNS Jawametric 2023, Ir. Ary Setyawan, M.Sc., Ph.D., said that the UNS Jawametric was held as a ranking model for institutions, both national and international, that consistently develop and preserve Javanese culture.
“This metric system aims to provide information about various institutions around the world that are concerned about Javanese culture. UNS Jawametric is a carefully designed IT-based ranking model that provides accurate information about institutions promoting and nurturing Javanese culture both nationally and internationally. The database and information from UNS Jawametric will inform about centers of activity and research, cultural events, resources, expertise, and Javanese cultural artifacts worldwide, allowing these institutions to connect and collaborate globally,” Ary Setyawan explained.
On the same occasion, a Video Statement from the Chairman of UI Green Metric as well as the Advisor for UNS Jawametric, Prof. Dr. Ir. Riri Fitri Sari, M.Sc., M.M., was also presented. Prof. Riri expressed her gratitude to UNS for consistently and periodically organizing the UNS Jawametric Award.
“Hopefully, this ranking facilitates the sharing of information and cooperation, thus making the Javanese culture more recognized worldwide. Best wishes for the success of UNS Jawametric,” Prof. Riri added.
Meanwhile, the TOP 10 rankings for UNS Jawametric 2023 include: 1st place – Universitas Sebelas Maret; 2nd place – Universitas Negeri Surabaya; 3rd place – Universitas Negeri Semarang; 4th place – Universitas Gajah Mada; 5th place – Institut Seni Indonesia Surakarta; 6th place – Universitas PGRI Semarang; 7th place – Universitas Indonesia; 8th place – Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta; 9th place – Leiden University; and 10th place – Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta.
The event was also enlivened by a performance by the Karawitan Sekar Rinance Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) UNS, a concert launch of the pancabangsa keroncong, and the Titenana Sengsarane Simbah keroncong.
